Has anyone tried this Marmite chocolate bar? The taste is subtle and works well. I bought a few for novelty stocking fillers one Ch******s. The reactions were varied!

Love the advert, wouldn't dream of complaining.

I'm having a disaster because one of my bets didn't get into the race because Jessie Harrington pulled her horse out 15 minutes after the cut off point so my horse [first reserve] couldn't run. And No Heretic [my main bet; love the name!] needs good ground and it's going to chuck it down tonight . The Ebor Handicap is my favourite race of the year but I haven't had time to study it this year. Also have Tropical Beat [bad draw] and Tiger Cliff [great chance; been bought to go hurdling after this]. Oh, and Genzy. I have lots of small bets on the one race and have achieved my goal of having an ante post bet on a horse that has got the lowest weight [which is good considering there were nearly 100 entries and it's now down to 19]. Of course, every year I tell everyone to back the Haggas horses at York..and then don't do it myself. Did you see The Fugue win the other day? Isn't she beautiful! She's been one of my favourite horses for a while now; looks just like Black Beauty. A friend has got a house next to the track so, when I'm retired I can go there a lot .

By the By , you have not commented on the Ebor , are you not watching?

I don't know what champagne they put into Marmite with champagne [well, champagne flavouring of some kind I suppose] but it does make the Marmite taste slightly sweet [don't ask me why but it does]. However, on the subject of fizzy alcoholic drinks I love Lambrusco [dead common, me ]!

The champagne I DrinK is not sweet , no way , perhaps you are thinking of Cava . Now "that" can be sweet not that I would drink it out of choice , I have to say !!

Was Marmite developed as a by product of the beer industry?

It adds a sweetness to the taste of the Marmite; it certainly doesn't tastelike the Marmite I know and love.

Sweet champagne???? Eugh!

...I don't like Marmite with champagne; the whole point about Marmite is it's savoury so why add something that tastes sweet? I think I kept the jar, though, cause I liked it [just going to have a look].

I love the little boy's face at the end [the one that doesn't like Marmite]. Maybe some people might think the advert is cruel to children [ie feeding them Marmite when they don't like it ].

The advert made me think of the Catherine Tate sketch about red heads.

Making light of animal mistreatment I guess. I think it is funny.

I love Marmite rice cakes with cottage cheese. Not the ones for babies. (I add the cottage cheese myself)

Hang about - are we saying that people objected to the Marmite commercial, made like an RSPCA appeal? What was the complaint? Cruelty to Marmite putting it in small cages?

It's a brilliant advert. What on earth will people complain about next . It's almost as good as the VW one with the man and baby in the car.

I bought a pack of Marmite cheese slice for Theseus this week. I can't imagine much worse, myself, but he loves it.

Marmite nuts are wonderful. I had to take them all the way to Canada for an addict!

Where do you get these weird jars of marmite from? Champagne?!

Just looked at it. Really funny! Loved the way they even blocked out the dog's face! Very good.

I enjoyed it! It was clear it was a funny one. Someone will probably take it the wrong way though.
