kitty I have a car which opens to become an open top one so I bought a cat collar and attached it to a bar on the front seat and then attached my handbag to it. No one has tried to steal my bag but it makes me feel secure.

I mean INSIDE.

I have put two pockets in one of my jackets - one for my wallet, comb etc, the other for my phone!

You can indeed have too many pockets. I remember all too well the panic in the hospital carpark after visiting DH - clearly I was even more stressed than usual- rummaging throough my bag, ringing DH back on the ward to see if the keys were on his bed, mounting PANIC - and then I found a pocket I had never even beem aware of. Don't use that bag any more now!

A friend of mine had hers taken off the front seat by someone opening the front door while she was waiting at traffic lights.

My handbag cost me 50 pence at a bring-and-buy sale. It's small but big enough for purse/phone etc. and is an across the body type.
I agree about pockets. Why can't ladies coats/jackets have inside pockets
like men's do? They would be useful, don't you think?

Loads about handbags in the Sunday Times today. I looked and picked out my favourites, they were all the very expensive ones! When I told DH he just said "what do you expect"

Hope it's a place no-one can reach through an open window. My sister had hers taken from the passenger seat!

One can have too many pockets in a handbag. I find myself rummaging for keys and in the pouring rain, this is no picnic.

The answer to swapping bags without forgetting keys etc is to use a handbag organiser. A certain cheap chain store sells one for £3. There are 9 pockets and you put all your belongings in it and then lift it out of one bag and put it in another.

I read it as 'square pants'. Been spending too much time with grandsons.

I've changed over to Healthy Back Bags. I only had one for a couple of years (bright pink but I used it for everything.) Then I decided I would get a smaller one for evenings, then larger one as a carry on bag, then a different colour one, then one in the sale....... They are very good, in that there a lot of inside pockets so that the bag is balanced when you use it either in the hollow of you back or across the body. But I don't really need more than three.

I'm just sorting out my holiday bag(s) ready for our 2 week cruise tomorrow. I need a bag for the flight, a bag for days on the ship, a bag for shore visits, a bag for evenings, well several actually to match different outfits.
How could one bag fit all of those requirements?

I am always looking for the perfect bag (and never finding it)

I envy women who walk about with a tiny bag, this is not me.

Mine weighs a ton. If I go out I use one of my more decent bags and cut down on the rubbish.

In my bag I have:

Purse large which contains, bus pass, money, credit and bank cards, assorted points card like nectar, vouchers for money off filed in little pockets Boots, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, stamps.

Spare pants ( I suffer from IBS so don't want to be caught out)

Keys for the house and if going in the car, car keys even if hubby driving just in case we lose one (it has happened before)

Glasses

Mobile phone

Camera

Tissues

Umbrella

Tablets

Gel for hands

Lipstick

I love handbags and have quite a few of them but can't be bothered swapping them over on a daily basis, cos life's too short. I almost hate myself for spending quite large sums of money on such frivolous items, it truly brings out my catholic guilt. The most expensive one I have bought is a Mulberry which I managed to acquire an ink stain on due to a leaking pen, I told my husband "it's customised no,w so that makes it quite unique!" he wasn't impressed. However, having said all that, what I regret the most about my handbags is not what they have cost but the fact that I think I have lost years of my life searching for keys, mobile phones etc deep down in their depths!

I can't cope with different compartments. This afternoon a friend offered me her 'travelling' handbag, full of compartments and a long strap. " No, no, but thank you," I said, but she insisted, so I accepted her kindness. I now have a handbag, which will remain at home, travel-less.

And I use all the different compartments to put things in too, would never find anything if it were all in a little bag!

No, glamma, I'm with LizG - swopping bags is a good reason to have a sort out and to find all the little things you thought you'd lost.

kittylister have you thought of putting all the things you carry with you on a daily basis in a transparent zipper bag inside your handbag,then when you decide to change it just pop it out into the new bag,DD does this on a regular basis as she is the "Handbag "Queen" in our family.I have had the same leather bucket bag for years,it looks a bit tatty but I am loath to part with it.

Agree story but then I have the same problem with shoes! Travelling light is just not for me!
