As I type my husband of 49 years, is undergoing major arterial surgery to his legs. I just needed to write this down.
He has already had two bypasses and two new hips. Where he gets the courage from I do not know.
My son from LA is here to be with me.
I keep crying.

It's only natural to feel anxious and scared, Grandmanorm - who wouldn't.
I hope your husband is soon through the surgery and on the way to a good recovery flowers

I hope that all will be well very soon. The waiting is horrid.

As someone who`s husband has come through 2 major operations in less than a month, I can appreciate just how you are feeling Grandmanorm, and send my very best wishes to you and yours.

moomin Fri 30-Aug-13 16:13:40

So many GNers thinking of you and your husband and sending positive vibes - my thoughts and (((hugs))) are winging their way to you also flowers

So difficult to remain calm when we are so worried, how good you have your son there to support you

Grandmanorm Fri 30-Aug-13 22:12:19

It is now 10pm and we have had a few glasses of wine. All is well, thank goodness. The operation took much longer than either I or DH expected. He was on the table for 5 hours then in recovery so it has been an extremely long day.
I have seen my DH so am much happier now.
Son, Andrew has been a great support.
Being a nurse, albeit long retired, I had all sorts of scenes running through my mind.
Thank you for all the support from you all. I can assure you all it did help.

I know the feeling. I agree with the others. It can be more stressful for the relatives than the patients.
I'm glad alls well!

My father ion law had similar surgery on his legs twice. He made a quick and complete recovery both times, in spite of having serious heart problems. I hope things continue to go well for you flowers
