Hi

Just being nosey and see you do lots of posts Greatnan, I thought I would have a look at your profile and l looked at your very nice photos.

Isn't it strange and not to mention misleading how we see a name and draw a picture in our mind. My picture of yourself was small round lady maybe in rocking chair with knitting or embroidery in your lap. The epitome of what I suppose great grans are often portrayed. Sitting at home by the fireside only venturing out to the local shops.

How wrong I am, you are slim and glamorous and well travelled by the looks of things.

Never mind dear, we all get a bit forgetful grin

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 20:30:52

BUT , and it is a big BUT , my memory is limited !!

Ana Sat 31-Aug-13 20:18:12

I'm sure there's a photo of you at your 'leaving do' on here somewhere, absent! wink

absent Sat 31-Aug-13 19:51:24

I filled in a gransnet profile once – no photograph as I have systematically destroyed all pictures of me that come into my possession – but I deleted it because it sounded so ineffably boring and abysmally dull. If I were really that pathetic, I'd go and hang myself.

Elegran Sat 31-Aug-13 18:54:24

Not difficult, Nonu Take a photo and store it on your laptop, then go to your profile and add it as it tells you on there.

annodomini Sat 31-Aug-13 18:51:23

I had no problem posting my profile and photograph - using a laptop. If you can store pictures on your laptop, you can create a profile.

Greatnan Sat 31-Aug-13 18:47:26

And we managed to post our profiles from them.

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 18:44:19

Em you have confused me there Elegran , what gives .

I would like you to see a photo of me & MR.

How can it be arranged I ask ??

grin

Ana Sat 31-Aug-13 18:42:00

Overthehill has already said she prefers to let other members glean what they can from her posts, rather than put up a profile.

Elegran Sat 31-Aug-13 18:39:34

I have no photo, but I do have some details, and everyone knows a great deal about me.

My laptop would send a photo, if I had one I wanted to send. It must just be yours, Nonu.

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 18:28:14

AND !!

Greatnan Sat 31-Aug-13 18:20:51

Most of us use laptops, I should think.

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 18:17:22

No G/nan you are very right but I did not pose the question from elegran to Overthehill.

Truth be told , I would luuure to send you all a photo of me & mister, plus anything that I think you may be interested in . BUT because I use a laptop it is not possible . So DD tells me

Greatnan Sat 31-Aug-13 18:11:59

And you don't have a profile, Nonu!

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 18:08:19

I have noticed there are no pictures of you elegran !! grin

Elegran Sat 31-Aug-13 17:52:29

Overhill Profiles are very useful in getting a mental image of the person sending the posts that appear. I notice that you do not have one. Why not fill it in so that we can fill in any gaps in our knowledge of you?

Greatnan Sat 31-Aug-13 17:13:41

You are all too kind - my glamour days are over! I am certainly well travelled though, Overthehill -I live in a little ski resort in the French Alps and so far this year I have spent seven weeks in New Zealand, two weeks snorkelling in the Red Sea, and a week cruising the River Moselle in Germany. have lived in Monaco, Brussels, England, Wales, and about eight different departments of France. I am close enough to both the Swiss and Italian borders to enable me to take guests for a visit to both of them. I will be emigrating to New Zealand in a few years to join my daughter and her family, but I have a lot of Europe to visit yet.
I was a grandmother at 42 and so was my daughter (serves her right!) and I now have ten grandchildren and great-grandchild number five is due in the Spring. I will be 73 next month, but I feel fitter than I did at 40
I generally walk for several hours a day up very steep paths - I climbed over 1,000 feet yesterday. Since starting serious walking, I have lost two stones and no longer have problem with arthritis in my knees or hips.

I have only just seen this thread, as I was out walking and taking more photos. I wish I could load them on here but for some reason it doesn't work, but I have put plenty on Facebook.

I am working on getting Gransnetters out to visit me - Anno has been twice and WhenIm64 is coming out next month.

"Wonder woman" is how I would describe Greatnan grin

annodomini Sat 31-Aug-13 16:55:42

I can confirm that gn is not the conventional image of a great-grandmother - no rocking chair and knitting for her. Hiking poles and stout boots are her equipment. She is an excellent driver on those Alpine roads with infinite numbers of hairpin bends - should have been a rally driver! She's also a great hostess.

LizG Sat 31-Aug-13 16:09:29

Nonu grin

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 15:07:54

Liz , oops the price of bacon has gone up !!
grin

JessM Sat 31-Aug-13 14:57:20

yes, well, one of our more adventurous members is how I would describe gn

LizG Sat 31-Aug-13 14:48:03

What was that pink thing which just flew past my window? [Smile]

kittylester Sat 31-Aug-13 14:45:36

Exactly Elegran perfect description of all of us I suspect. smile

Elegran Sat 31-Aug-13 14:41:02

But that is true of all gransnetters! There is not one of us who is not slim, beautiful, elegant, gorgeously dressed and shod, our hair fashionably styled. Our houses are spotlessly clean, our children and grandchildren love us and do exactly as we want them to, our spouses are devoted, our colleagues love us . . . Lets face it, we are perfect!
