Hi

Just being nosey and see you do lots of posts Greatnan, I thought I would have a look at your profile and l looked at your very nice photos.

Isn't it strange and not to mention misleading how we see a name and draw a picture in our mind. My picture of yourself was small round lady maybe in rocking chair with knitting or embroidery in your lap. The epitome of what I suppose great grans are often portrayed. Sitting at home by the fireside only venturing out to the local shops.

How wrong I am, you are slim and glamorous and well travelled by the looks of things.

Moved, yes, the 'easy target' again!

Movedalot Tue 03-Sept-13 11:40:32

Lona imo the people who do things like this pick on the nice people they know won't retaliate.

I'e also been tracked down a couple of times, and as I was stalked by someone for two years, I am being extremely cautious now.

annodomini Tue 03-Sept-13 10:00:08

Someone - now no longer with us - turned some of my profile details against me in a most unpleasant manner. I'm more circumspect now.

Movedalot Tue 03-Sept-13 09:55:51

I'm with Aka on this. If you have ever been stalked online you will understand the caution. There are some really nasty people out there.

Aka Mon 02-Sept-13 16:22:46

It's each person's individual choice whether to 'blue' or not. There are pros and cons but I have reasons I wish to remain anonymous except to those I trust to reveal myself to.
Pedants please excuse the grammar hmm

gracesmum Mon 02-Sept-13 15:46:14

It is a question isn't it about why we choose not to "blue" our profile. Mine was very full and open until we had some very nasty intruders - (tr**ls, if I am allowed to say the word!)- and I decided that I no longer wanted ot give away any information to dodgy lurkers. I would happily remedy that and wonder why so many Gnetters, especially newer ones, are not willing to say just a little about themselves - number of DGC, job/former job, interests/maybe (roughly) geographical location for instance.

over which hill are you over? Come and walk the Malverns that will keep you fit! grin

Hello Greatnan

Wow what a life you have had and continue to have. There again in my ignorance I assumed you lived in Britain.

I don't climb mountains but endeavour to walk each day to keep everything moving.

Good luck to you.

Elegran's blush

Nonu Sun 01-Sept-13 13:34:08

L A L !!

kittylester Sun 01-Sept-13 13:34:01

No harri, Elegran description of me is quite accurate grin

Movedalot Sun 01-Sept-13 13:32:53

I might suss you out if you claimed to be a Prima Ballerina nonu better go for something else. grin I know nothing about racing though, you could be anyone and I would believe it.

harrigran Sun 01-Sept-13 13:20:05

I have always used a laptop, and even before SD card slots, it was easy to use a card reader via usb.
Everybody sees us in a different way to how we see ourselves.

Greatnan Sun 01-Sept-13 12:46:57

I couldn't get away with any exaggerations on my profile - Anno has visited me twice and could blow the gaff on me! And I have met several members who would know if my photos were not accurate!

Nonu Sun 01-Sept-13 12:41:31

One could put anything on and there is a good chance no-one would know any different !
I could have been a prima ballerina !! or a world famous racing car driver and driven in the Monaco Grand prix . The possibilities are endless !!

What fun eh!!

smile

Movedalot Sun 01-Sept-13 12:24:48

I had never thought of that Ceesnan but I suppose most of us would unconsciously edit what we put according to our own perception of ourselves.

Now of course I'm thinking of all the things I could say about me knowing that no one would ever know if it were true or not. Hmmmm grin

Ceesnan Sun 01-Sept-13 12:00:18

What you read on a profile is only what that person has wanted to put. You have no way of knowing whether it is true, partly true or a complete work of fiction. Why put so much store on it? By the way, before anyone leaps in and says not to be so aggressive, it isn't meant to be that way smile

annodomini Sun 01-Sept-13 10:01:05

Be careful, everyone. The last (only) time I urged someone to create a profile I was accused of bullying. What, me?

simtib Sun 01-Sept-13 09:05:12

It must be very very old laptop it it does not have a usb socket.

Elegran Sun 01-Sept-13 08:58:04

Not all old laptops do though.

simtib Sun 01-Sept-13 07:49:30

Most cameras have a usb socket, you can use that instead of taking the sd card out.

Greatnan Sun 01-Sept-13 07:39:47

Never mind the photo, Nonu, if it is too difficult -just tell us a bit about yourself on your profile.

Ceesnan Sun 01-Sept-13 07:19:28

My laptop is very old and does not have the SD card slot - yes, that old!! If Nonu's is the same, that would explain why she can't put photos on it. I suppose it could be done by using another computer and emailing a pic to her laptop which she could then save to a file, but honestly, would you bother?

Nonu Sat 31-Aug-13 21:40:21

Gracemum.

Thank you dear !!
