Welcome and I just had one of the best holidays ever on the Western Isles. In that glorious July weather. We did them all ... from top to bottom! So I am jelly-envious of you, only a little bit.

Gorki Wed 11-Sept-13 13:15:12

I think we should have a meetup there don't you Grannyknot? !!! grin. Only half joking !!

BerylBee Wed 11-Sept-13 13:18:11

Hello from me, too.
I'm a recent joiner like you.
Not yet a Gran but expecting!
I'm also a Scot. But unfortunately living in exile.
Boo, hoo.

I have been looking through lots of posts, one i noticed was, supermarkets full of Christmas goodies, that i do miss!! Large supermarkets, if I go to the mainland its like a trolly dash. Like kids in a sweet shop.

Gorki ... [wishful thinking] smile

Advice please, I looked at the LOCAL for Highlands & Islands and there's nothing there. Its a very big area, there's no Pubs, Hotels, Hospitals, Doctors or Shops, either i am not pressing the right buttons, we don't exist or somebody should put some stuff in. Which is it .confused

glassortwo Fri 13-Sept-13 11:43:06

Some of the local sites are not up and running fully yet, post a message and see if anyone replies. I think GNHQ are still looking for local editors.
But have a look at the Edinburgh local as I think it's one of the most successful of the sites and they have some great meetings.

kittylester Fri 13-Sept-13 12:07:33

Or become the local editor hebrideanlady sunshine

Hebs Fri 13-Sept-13 17:36:36

Thanks for the tip glassortwo, I see from your profile you are renovating a house in Northumberland, is it anywhere near Alnwick? we were there 2 years ago for a holiday, its one of my favourite places.

glassortwo Fri 13-Sept-13 17:46:31

hebridean more inland than Alnwick close to The Scottish/England border. It's a beautiful part of the country.

numberplease Fri 13-Sept-13 21:30:03

Hebrideanlady, just been looking at your photos, those are two beautiful cats! Wish they were larger pics, the scenery looks lovely.

Hebs Sat 14-Sept-13 10:39:40

Thanks numberplease, i shall try and sort the photos. Willow and Blossom are Ragdolls, brother and sister, we are only here to serve them

numberplease Sat 14-Sept-13 16:02:10

You too? Our white rescue cat thinks we`re just here to be her slaves!

Gorki Sat 14-Sept-13 17:18:23

And so does our black one ! grin

kittylester Sat 14-Sept-13 17:41:35

I thought all cats did. confused

Hebs Sat 14-Sept-13 19:09:04

I had a beautiful little tortie rescue cat she was gorgeous, sadly she was run over right outside my house so I vowed never again, then 1 of my daughter started to breed ragdolls (indoor) ones so I got 2 kittens. A friend of mine had a white kitten which went outside, an eagle took it, How awful is that

Hebs Sat 14-Sept-13 19:34:34

numberplease i have just read the extract of sex advice which is amongst your lovely photos, the bit about "we should humbly agree" with husbands desires, its hilarious!!! that must be why I have been married 3 times, I cant say I do humble.

numberplease Sat 14-Sept-13 22:53:59

hebrideanlady, that tickled me enormously when I first read it, but I was worried it would be too small when I put it in my profile page. Thinking back to the 60s, things were a bit like that, but I don`t know many who conformed.

Hebs Sat 14-Sept-13 23:12:07

numberplease, it is really funny to read it but... how many of us at that time were told to be so good, we then felt guilt, so it sort of spoilt things, if we were a bit naughty. I think I have this right, that next week you go into hospital for a knee replacement. I truly wish you well and hope you recover quickly

numberplease Sat 14-Sept-13 23:41:34

Thank you, people`s good wishes mean a lot.

I'm new too - didn't know until today that this website existed and have just realised I've been missing out all this time going by all the information and great comments , and you all sound a really interesting bunch of Grans. I live in Hertfordshire (not my original home-town) and have 5 GCs ranging from 14 down to 2.

whenim64 Wed 09-Oct-13 16:17:37

Welcome, Safetygran. Look forward to chatting with you! smile

Hebs Wed 09-Oct-13 16:22:35
