I think that over time we have got used to the regular posters and make allowances for some, agree with others and ignore still others almost automatically. We know who is the Bully, the Condescending One, the Self-satisfied Moaner, the Irritatingly Off the Point One, the Opinionated One (especially on matters of which she is completely ignorant), the Last-on-the-Band-Wagon One, the Calming One, the Excited One, the Well-informed One, the Well-rounded One, the Humorous One, the Indignant One and so on and so on. New posters can be a bit more challenging and disrupt our complacency.

I don't post that often now but have done so in the past so, no doubt, earned my own less than flattering sobriquet. Please don't tell me what it is.

kitty, I quoted your ' mostly new posters who delight in creating discord' claim. Gracemum agreed with you and this is why I spoke of it again.

My views on welcoming was addressed to the forum , as some want a divide between new and old posters it seemed fair that as a new poster I too expressed my feelings on how unfriendly it is to tell any new poster to know their place, surely this only drives away new posters?

If Gracemum meant she agreed with you on battles for supremacy then I apologise . I dislike battles no matter the cause
