And, if you do, can you recommend any or do they all end up as bad tempered battles for supremacy and the moral high ground? sad

Having been a member of gn since early on, I am really unhappy about the vitriol often unleashed on here. The odd spat is understandable but GN seems to have a large number of, mostly new posters, who delight in creating discord.

So, can anyone recommend any general forums like GN used to be.

Well that was a joke wasn't it? Maybe half a dozen people (generous estimate?) actually responded to the question while all the others repeated all the stuff that has been deleted in other threads recently. Never mind a piss off emoticon; we need a huge yawn emoticon.

What a coincidence Elegran that you should speak of some fearing the dark, a dear friend of mine has been terrified of the dark since October 1966, a grown man, retired school master and brilliant artist , most level headed , but when it comes to the dark , whoosh, this man shakes, has been known to vomit, what a pair he and I make with our silly phobias and both caused by the same incident, such is life for us mere mortals

Soon be time for Holby City - goodnight, people of good will! grin

Aka Tue 17-Sept-13 19:32:23

Annie
grin and sad

petallus Tue 17-Sept-13 19:30:53

I wasn't referring to you Greatnan

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 19:29:46

Oh my gosh! Poor dog. sad

Anniebach Tue 17-Sept-13 19:26:08

I am fine J08, thank you , one of my dogs has a rather nasty ear infection , affected her balance , which means meal times and walks take much longer than usual

Aka Tue 17-Sept-13 19:25:38

Give it a rest GN.

Anniebach Tue 17-Sept-13 19:22:55

Well if you don't understand Greatnan then the only suggestion I can offer is pop it in your files, switch off from it and then perhaps mull over it another day, yes ?

Iam64 Tue 17-Sept-13 19:17:09

cross posted here - mine followed Greatnans at 18.34. Dogs walked, dinner cooking, off to watch the news (that'll be non contentious......)

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 19:11:04

hmm

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 19:08:06

How is it a distortion to quote somebody's exact words?

Iam64 Tue 17-Sept-13 19:06:24

Oh my - what is all this about.

Elegran Tue 17-Sept-13 19:05:21

She is probably keeping well out of the way in case she is hit by the crossfire.

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 19:01:12

You alright Anniebach? wine

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 19:00:22

Totally confused now.

Never mind. hmm

petallus Tue 17-Sept-13 19:00:08

That is such a distortion of what anniebach said.

Elegran Tue 17-Sept-13 18:56:00

I think it was only Jingle who saw a possibility of anything contentious and Ana who saw a possibility of it being upsetting. Anniebach just said that she avoided all mention of snow.

Day follows night and night follows day. Oh dear! I should not have said that. Some people are afraid of the dark, they might be upset at my mentioning night. Or zealous protectors of their peace of mind might attack me for being so insensitive in bringing night into the conversation!

Greatnan Tue 17-Sept-13 18:34:28

No, jingle, I don't get it. Nothing in the post could possibly be viewed as contentious.

Ana Tue 17-Sept-13 18:33:46

And if not contentious, as such, at least upsetting. To Anniebach.

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 18:33:44

wink !!!

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 18:33:27

Any thread can turn contentious. Give this one another ten minutes. hmm

j08 Tue 17-Sept-13 18:32:11

Ab was demonstrating how she would avoid threads which might turn out to be, for her, contentious.

Gottit?! hmm
