Computer problem (why no section for this)

I recently had a problem getting into my email - Microsoft Outlook. Kept getting the window to put the p/w in and it didn't work.
Phoned BT....was on there half an hour.
Eventually was told that they didn't support M O any more and I would have to access email via Yahoo.

I HATE IT.
About ten keystrokes and a/d and p/w to put in almost every time.
Instead of one click.
AND adverts not just ads but MOVING ads - so distracting.

I need a different free program to get my email.
Any suggestions?

....and meanwhile, HOW do I add an attachment to an email in this setup????
I can't find any 'Help' in it.
Help!.......................................Alie

I have used incredimail for 5 years, I find it very easy.

AlieOxon Sun 29-Sept-13 12:57:57

Could be worth trying.......but I notice it sends other people ads!

Opera Mail is what I use - comes with my Opera browser, which is also free!

I use gmail which is pretty good at dealing with Spam and keeps promotional emails separate from personal ones.

I second Anno on gmail. Easy to use and you can integrate other google services like search and maps.

How about Firefox? I have that and have no problems. You can transfer your contact list to it. It is free.

I use yahoo and its easy once you get used to it. The Tech forum is the place to ask!

If you have Google Chrome you can also integrate your calendar and Google Docs with your gmail.

gmail is free, easy to set up and use.

There's also good old Hotmail as well.

@Elegran : Does Firefox have a mail client? I don't think so...

Elegran Sun 29-Sept-13 17:59:47

I meant Thunderbird, Feetlebaum - That is the mail arm of Firefox. I have both and got the names mixed. No problems with either of them.

Looking at Thunderbird - I'm using Firefox anyway and don't really want to change!
It doesn't look as if it has ads, yes?

Elegran Sun 29-Sept-13 22:31:38

No ads.

Just got Thunderbird, looks fine!

New emails at the bottom - can I change that?

Elegran Mon 30-Sept-13 10:10:18

Click on "date" in the headings at the top of the email list and it will reverse the order they are in, and back again with another click, You can order them by subject, A-Z or Z-A, and by "from" A-Z or Z-A. Useful if you are looking for emails from a certain person, or one whose subject you remember. You can also search inside all the emails for words or phrases.

I have a BT email account, and find that I use there homepage on IE, I use the homepage as my own.
I just click on Bt .com page email , this opens up a new screen, then put in the needed info, to access my email.

Elegran - thanks.

Mick - I just found that page too irritating. I guess it's ok if you don't mind the ads! It took so long to get into the email.

At the moment I'm very happy with the Thunderbird.

Elegran Wed 02-Oct-13 08:59:15

That is very odd, Alie I don't get any ads at all ! But I don't get my emails online, I have them downloaded to my laptop. Perhaps that is the difference?

Elegran Wed 02-Oct-13 09:00:55

Sorry, I misread the header to the message and thought that the "Thanks, Mick" was an aside (Did wonder why) and the ads were on the Thunderbird page.

AlieOxon Wed 02-Oct-13 17:46:22

Whoops. No, I am now happy with my computer again.....but maybe I better not speak too soon....
