Sat down and did a sort of bottom shuffle until I felt I could stand up again blush Meant I could have 'googled' views of the top and from the top....... never have good ideas !

...and cleaning upstairs windows, from the inside. Can't watch anyone on a ladder....

You mean googling it to see what it looked like at the top or googling it instead of walking up it OGM? [did you have to walk back down backwards confused?]. Before we had proper stairs going into the loft I climbed up the loft ladder one day and then realised I was to scared to climb back down. I did pluck up the courage eventually [obviously]. Multi storey car parks freak me out.

I'm terrible with heights. Have trouble standing on chairs or going more than two steps up a ladder but I don't seem half as bad with natural features. I think I just have a basic distrust of anything man made.

I re-discovered my fear of heights about 30 feet from the top of Coniston Old Man having walked all the way up from the village (and noticing a well-used carpark part way up!) so didn't actually make it to the top!
Thanks for the pics, I now know what it looks like, now why didn't I think of 'Googling' it before?

Lovely! I climbed the Old Man when I was a student in 1966. We spent a week in the Lake District , staying at Ruskin's house and supposedly working wink
