Music Hall Song identification

Have you thought about checking if Roy Hudd has a website as he is a great archivist of Music Hall memorabilia? I know he's quite an authority on it so he (or the person running the website) may be able to help you. Happy Hunting.

Looking on Google, it seems to be a stock phrase for funeral food. It is not something I have heard before but it sounds like it ought to be a Pam Ayres poem.

Yes I found that, thanks shysal but as you guessed it's not the one! I'll have a look at Pam Ayres - haven't done that so far though it didn't come up on google.

Frannygranny I looked at Roy Hudd's site and from that went to the British Music Hall site and I've emailed their historian - he might be able to help. Hope so anyway, poor DH can't get it out of his head - well the bit he can recall!

We always joke about going to a 'am tea after a funeral but I have no idea why. Maybe that's it. My maternal grandparents came from Lancashire - maybe relevant. Keep us posted.

Did you look through this? I can't see a monologue but maybe you may find a reference!

I also think Victoria Wood had a monologue about a funeral /death which may have had something about ham!

Have you looked at Stanley holloway monologues? It sort of sounds like him.
