Any ideas re cheap travel insurance?

I wasn't sure which thread to post this on but I was wondering if anyone has any tips on cheap/reasonably priced travel insurance. For the past few years we have been getting free insurance from our bank but they have now moved the goal posts, they will only give it free to people who are not on medication. My DH is on medication for type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and blood pressure (he is 67). Ironically, he is as fit as a fiddle and really slim so the conditions are not caused by bad lifestyle choices or whatever they call it now. Every travel insurance company we have looked at bump up the prices when you declare these conditions. Any tips would be gratefully received.

My French Gold MasterCard does not impose any health or age conditions. You have to pay for your card here - mine costs me just under £90 a year - but travel insurance would cost me a lot more, and last year they reimbursed me for a burst tyre on a hire car in England, about £55. Have you tried shopping around the various card companies?

We get our travel insurance through Staysure. We have an annual policy which I think was around £80, and they do cover lots of pre-existing medical conditions.

I'm with Staysure too and I have several medical issues that they take into account and still give me very reasonable rates.

When we had holiday ins with our UK bank account I was able to discuss the fact I was on blood pressure pills and I paid about £40 to cover this. But now we live in France and have just taken out travel ins for seven weeks - including four of these weeks in USA and it is just under £100 each - they are not allowed to ask medical questions here - I think they give you the benefit of the doubt that if you are prescribed drugs you will take them and they will work! It is all bit of a rip off in UK.

Ours costs a fortune - OH is on a cocktail of drugs. I will try this Staysure one - thanks for the tip.

We use Staysure. They are quite reasonable even for long trips.

Where can I get an idea of travel insurance costs before I decide to travel. No clues are available without details.
