Having watched QI last night and been fascinated by Trevor Noah, I wanted to find out more about this type of singing.
Found this on You Tube and hope you find it as fascinating as I did - her hairstyle is amazing too! How do they make that sound?

It's lovely isn't it! Unfortunately she died some time ago! I often watch her on utube. I love her rendering of the s African national anthem.
The sound is easy, it's made with using the back of the tongue against the roof of the mouth!
