glass I think it's safe to reveal that I was E**a46 grin but keep it to yourself please wink you never know

I changed mine just for the hell of it. Nobody could be in any doubt about my identity because the two names were so similar. HQ tried to dissuade me but not very hard.

glassortwo Tue 15-Oct-13 12:00:27

lona I think I know who you are, but not sure hmm

Lona Tue 15-Oct-13 10:45:33

I've changed from my original name twice now, and GNHQ did it straight away. I was identified and contacted by outsiders and I felt slightly vulnerable!

glassortwo Mon 14-Oct-13 22:28:28

Well make sure you send us a loaded hint when you change names thlsmile oh must be halloween

Hebs Mon 14-Oct-13 22:25:26

I think everyone up here would be able to identify me by now, so that is a consideration, sometimes I can be a bit indiscreet blush

LizG Mon 14-Oct-13 22:23:28

Just one more go after that I'll sulk thlsmile

LizG Mon 14-Oct-13 22:20:51

Darn, and I was trying to be clever [thismile]

LizG Mon 14-Oct-13 22:20:00

I asked GN if I could change my name as I felt it was too identifiable and they said they would sort it but then I couldn't think of another name so haven't yet got around to it. I love your name though it makes me think of heather which I love [thismile

glassortwo Mon 14-Oct-13 21:42:16

merlotgran Mon 14-Oct-13 21:34:58

I asked GNHQ if I could change my name and they sorted it for me. I had just joined and was about to post on a thread about care for the elderly when I realised my username could identify me.

You have a nice username, hebrideanlady

Gorki Mon 14-Oct-13 21:28:32

Sorry, forgot the apostrophe: should be Flower's

Gorki Mon 14-Oct-13 21:27:08

I like Flowers abbreviation for you : Hebs grin

Hebs Mon 14-Oct-13 20:44:50

You are all so lovely, flowersflowersflowers

gracesmum Mon 14-Oct-13 20:39:45

You may also find that people shorten your name after a wee bit, I am often grace or GM (Genetically Modified I assume...??thlgrin )

thatbags Mon 14-Oct-13 20:38:39

You could change it to heb and we'd still know who you are smile. Actually you could change it to anything and announce that you are hebrideanlady. That has been done before. People who like reading your posts (me, for instance) will soon catch on flowers

positivepam Mon 14-Oct-13 20:37:46

Yes but have you seen what names they actually choose? I was absolutely gobsmacked. I wonder if Mumsnet had been going when we were younger, what names we might have picked, would we have been less reserved ha ha? And I also love your name hebrideanlady please don't change it.

baubles Mon 14-Oct-13 20:27:06

That was in reply to your first post!

I don't think it's too long as it is smile

baubles Mon 14-Oct-13 20:25:46

I think so h'lady. I wanted to change mine very early on & the powers that be at HQ said no as they prefer people not to change. I de-registered then re-registered with my new name.

I don't really understand as over at Mumsnet they do it all the time.

Hebs Mon 14-Oct-13 20:24:33

That is so nice of you thanks, I just thought when I looked at it on screen it looked to long smile

Gorki Mon 14-Oct-13 20:21:11

I like your name. It reminds me of the island you come from.smile

Hebs Mon 14-Oct-13 20:00:53

I want to change my user name, because when I joined it was the first thing that came to mind and I think its to long. Do I have to exit altogether then join again thlconfused
