Mediacl Detection Dogs

I have seen a presentation on this with 2 lovely trainee dogs in attendance. It would appear though to be a tiny charity at the moment but, like guide dogs, very worthwhile. Dogs need a job and in this case, the job can be a literal life saver.

I think these dogs are amazing, I saw one on the BBC2 programme I think "The Wonder of Dogs" and it picked out cancer in 0.05ml of urine. I think it is astounding and they are and can be literal life savers.

Question: posed by my dog lover friend. Do they also detect cancer in other dogs. Her dog is constantly licking her other dog's ears. It has only recently started this.

Could that possibly just an indication of ear infection or something similar? I have two dogs and the male has always cleaned his sisters ears, although she doesn't reciprocate. I am sure it is nothing to worry about, they can get ear mites as well. Might mean a trip to the vets though, or can anyone else suggest possibilities?

Flower - PositivePam is probably right. The breed of dog I share my life with are prone to ear problems (long loopy ears/swimming). The older dog took to licking the pups ear, he loved it and initially I thought she was showing a maternal side. The pup had an ear infection. The vet said the other dog licking the ear wouldn't have helped with the infection.
