Observant OH?

After the usual 'what to wear' dilema (not too dressy/not too casual) I set off to Exeter (SW lunch) wearing a bargain frock. I had a couple of hours to kill before meeting the other Grans so made the mistake of heading in to town for a mooch around the shops!
BIG mistake, I saw a must-have dress, tried it on, left it on. Then a bargain pair of shoes (half price).
Consequently I arrived home differently attired to be met by the OG and whisked off for a Thai supper.
After a while he said: 'That's a nice top'. After another long pause he said:'Is it new?'
He must have been sitting opposite me for well over an hour by then.... is this a record? smile

I once changed my hairstyle and it wasn't until 2 days later when someone else commented on it that DH noticed!

Here's one the other way round. My husband shaved his moustache off and it was 9 days before I realised. We'd only been married a month- they say love is blind!

The reply to "Is it new?" is surely always "What this? No, I've had it ages just found it again in the wardrobe/thought it needed
an airing/bought it in the sales last year" etc etc grin

My DH never notices anything. He does try though. Once we were going out and I put on a brand new top with an oldish skirt. He said oh your new skirt looks nice. I said nice try, wrong end.

Once, in an attempt to impress a boyfriend, I had blond highlights put into my mousy hair. When I next saw him he said not one word about the change. But it wasn't long after that he broke up with me, so I think he did notice but didn't want to give it his seal of approval.

My husband rarely notices new clothes or hairdo's, but my youngest son invariably does. I don't mind at all usually, but now and again I prompt him until he notices.

P.s. Can't say I noticed the shoes OGM, but the dress was lovely. smile

Yes I noticed the dress too OGM and thought it was a perfect fit.

Blooming heck my DH wouldn't notice if I tattooed by body from top to toe, shaved my head, painted it pink and danced naked in the garden. He would still open the garden gate, look at his hydrangeas, walk up the path and ask what's for tea without batting an eyelid.

Although having said that I did once have some highlights put in my hair and when prompted he grunted and said "hmmm, yes well".

On the rare occasion OH makes an unprompted comment it's always in the vein of 'that's a nice shirt/top' which, after several years of same, it started to annoy me. It was always the garment that got the praise not me! I knew it was a nice shirt/top, what I wanted to know was if it suited me and made me look just a bit more glam. It almost caused what passes for a row in this house. OH could not understand why I was miffed and I had a job explaining that I wanted to be reassured that I looked good.
I know that when one of my daughters have something different on I will always find myself saying something like 'That really suits you' or 'you look lovely in that' etc.....
Suppose it is a male thing.
