Sorry if this has been on another forum. I have just watched it on YouTube.
The man is a Genius.
WARNING. Not for the right wing.

I thought he outdid Paxman, which takes some doing!

Such a wonderful example of someone displaying all the characteristics of ADHD & not an easy person to be around with for long.

merlotgran Fri 25-Oct-13 20:30:15

Full of self important nonsense as usual. hmm

I'd just finished watching this after my son had flagged it for me - and then saw this thread.
RB is engaging, passionate and isn't afraid of voicing his alternative views. I find that refreshing.

Depressing though that so many of us were saying the same sort of things in the 60's and yet things are worse than ever.

I don't agree with everything he says but I just love his way with words.

Have mixed feelings about him, who listened to his Desert Island Discs? The presenter (Kirsty Young?) mentioned him "roaming" about the studio when the records were playing, and also said (I think) that she was not sure if he was going to sit down again)

I'm never sure if he is being himself, or sort of playing to the gallery, IYKWIM

I wonder about ADHD or some personality stuff. He seems impulsive, narcissistic and over active an lots of folks with those kind of things to live with self medicate, as he did for a long time. I think he's a bit marmite, and I'm not a fan, though he does talk sense about some things.

He is politically naive. Good articles tearing his immature nonsense to bits in both the 'right' wing and 'left' wing newspapers yesterday.

Iam64 Sat 26-Oct-13 07:57:52

Is he also naive and immature in his approach to life in general bags, that's my question.

thatbags Sat 26-Oct-13 09:04:20

Possibly, iam. My general impression of him is that of a narcissistic twit. I think he is clever and often funny. I'm sure he means well, bless him hmm, especially if what he says makes him richer.

thatbags Sat 26-Oct-13 09:05:04

And yes, I've heard him say sensible things.

Grannyknot Sat 26-Oct-13 09:40:27

RBs arguments on the JP show were pretty shallow and he did sound naive (albeit that he made some good points).

I think he is a different person when he is not "playing for the crowd". I think I said before I heard him speaking at an addictions conference and he was perfectly sensible. And he stood still.

Clever, narcissistic twit also applies to JP in my view ...

I love Russell Brand grin

I started off disliking RB intensely when there was the scandal over remarks about somebody's granddaughter.

Later read a few of his articles and was very impressed. Did not find him politically naive just left wing and I don't mind that.

thatbags Sat 26-Oct-13 10:28:42

Ghaffar Hussein puts it rather well: Russell Brand's rant reminds of Churchill saying 'Democracy is the worst system going, except for all the rest'.

I have never liked him and can't watch a film with him in it. I tried to watch him in the interview and after a minute turned him off. I could quite believe he is Narcisstic and a twit.
