I started to make some flapjack this morning. Butter melting, sugar weighed, nuts and seeds ground, tin lined with baking parchment, oven heating up...

...no oats

all is on hold.

Where is it phoenix - I've not done it!

Frannygranny Fri 01-Nov-13 21:28:50

Done it, as well phoenix. Good luck!

Ah - The Parting Glass does sound a tender song, Grandmanorm. 'Ae Fond Kiss' was my favourite of Burns' songs.
I'd love to see Dougie McLean again.

Anne58 Fri 01-Nov-13 21:01:28

Thank you Gally !

Must admit, I do like the "no spring chicken" one, but the artwork seems familiar, or perhaps it's just that I've seen something similar before.

Don't think that I stand a chance of winning now, but I was rather pleased with the way that Mr.P represented my idea. It was supposed to capture a whole load of things about us members and the sort of Gransnet ethos!

Grandmanorm Fri 01-Nov-13 20:58:54

Marelli not folksy. Apparently The Parting Glass was the precursor to Auld Lang Sine.
Dougie McLean is going to be in Perth concert Hall this month but tickets are very expensive!!!
Hero is sung by Family of the Year and Ho Hey by The Lumineers.
I hasten to add I have no connection whatsoever with any of the composers.

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 20:53:34

Grandmanorm smile - are they 'folksy' Dougie McLean sort of songs? Used to listen a lot to that sort of music.
And Gally, I'll resemble a bloomin' gatepost if I carry on like this....a really solid one!!

Grannylin Fri 01-Nov-13 20:50:47

The chocolates, the pillow or the Leven Singers?

gracesmum Fri 01-Nov-13 20:45:49

I believe they are not what they are cracked up to be and a waste of money Sorry!

Grandmanorm Fri 01-Nov-13 20:43:07

Follow the Heron, The Parting Glass, Hero and Ho hey.
First two are being sung by Leven Singers, second two given to me by number one son.
I still keep logging on though for news.

Gally Fri 01-Nov-13 20:42:36

Petallus YOU ARE WORTH IT

Gally Fri 01-Nov-13 20:42:05

Ahem, yes I know I said that and I did, but that was between you me and the gatepost Marelli

petallus Fri 01-Nov-13 20:41:37

I want to buy a silk pillow case because they are said to be good for the complexion and hair doesn't go frizzy overnight. However one costs £35!

Someone tell me I'm worth it"

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 20:41:14

Which songs, Grandmanorm?

Gally Fri 01-Nov-13 20:40:43

Dun it Phoenix wink

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 20:40:08

And you know how big the box of chocolates was, Gally......though you said your box was bigger - and you ate most of THEM!! wink

Grandmanorm Fri 01-Nov-13 20:38:59

Keep listening to the same four songs over and over again.

Mishap Fri 01-Nov-13 20:38:10

Or setting the breadmaker going with no water in it - oops!

Anne58 Fri 01-Nov-13 20:38:05

Ahem, if you haven't already voted in the tea towel competition, I could do with more votes! Virtual chocolate, wine and cake for all!

Gally Fri 01-Nov-13 20:35:53

D'you know, because the whole tenor of GN has changed during the last week, I haven't read one nasty, uncomfortable post. We are all pulling together - how good is that? And how sad is that? Oh s**t, my boiled egg is now hard boiled. B****r. Looks like another bloomin' avocado for my supper.......
Marelli shock
Definitely time to find the corkscrew.......wine

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 20:35:30

Went to soft play with Dd and DGS and the noise was horrendous. Glad to be home and now taken paracetomol. DGS loved it.

AlieOxon Fri 01-Nov-13 20:27:15

How many times looking in the oven can a chicken be not quite cooked??!

gracesmum Fri 01-Nov-13 20:22:38

Feeling more than a bit low - no good news about Carol, dismal Friday afternoon, spin dryer still bu**ered, so went to John Lewis to collect an internet order I had made and there was nothing for it - had to buy a new lippy. You know the feeling? I hardly ever wear lippy and the handbags are full of unused, but it was what I needed to pick myself up.
Worked.

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 20:21:19

shock, Bags! Anyway, DH did have one chocolate.....

Grannylin Fri 01-Nov-13 20:20:40

Mopping the floor and accidently smashed a bottle of Proper Job real ale, balancing on top of the fridge.House now smells like a seedy old pub.

feetlebaum Fri 01-Nov-13 20:20:09

Yes - I've left the paddle out - just once! Also forgot to add salt once -- ooh, glad you mentioned this as I had forgotten my bread was ready an hour ago and I hadn't taken it out! -- and without salt the bread is curiously bland and unpalatable.
