A four line poem I shall endeavour to print,
I know it is rubbish, I can take a hint,
Show me up ladies, and do a lot better,
Who? is the most poetic Gransnetter.
grin

I cannot believe the change in you
my beautiful Nordic girl
Tova you struggled through
and here you are -
smiling

Flowerofthewest Tue 19-Nov-13 23:44:53

I have never been so scared,
seeing you lying there life bared
each breath you took you struggled
you need a hug, a cwtch a cuddle

Flowerofthewest Tue 19-Nov-13 23:39:48

Catching breath,
Burning up
Little one -
Come back to us!

I turn it up, he turns it down
Always with a frosty frown.
This battle's one I always win
I've jammed it with a tiny pin.

Four lines was the original request
Some (like me) have failed the test
By getting rather carried away
And having far too much to say smile

Husband ditched the beta blocker
And it has given him back his mojo
Now I think he's off his rocker
Because he is all a go-go... grin

(And me? I'm lying low-low wink)

A gorgeous robin sat on my step, he looked at me, I know!!
How does he survive the cold? The north wind it does blow,
There are no trees...... or hedgerows, or nowhere I can see,
That he can hide to come again and have a look at me.

try again with corrections.

Had an ongoing survey to complete about the arts and entertainment. Was interviewed a couple of years ago and they update it every year.

One of the questions was 'Do you write or have written any poetry in the last 12 months?' I was about to answer NO then realised that I had indeed written a four liner for GN the day before. So I was able to answer YES!!! very proud.

Much to impress in Gransnetters' prose
I couldn't begin to compete
I hear English teachers, them who knows
We who don't can merely bleat.

If it comes, you HAVE to write it then, that's what I have discovered. I haven't an inspiration at the moment; it may come!

I was sitting in my chair last night composing a poem in my head; now I can't remember what it was about. I thought it was quite promising!

Ariadne Sat 16-Nov-13 09:25:56

Lovely, Liz!

Peel back the pain
Layer by layer.
Hold out your hands to a passing stranger
Smile with your eyes, share with your heart.

annodomini Fri 15-Nov-13 22:28:50

sussex, why can't I write like that? Don't worry - that's a rhetorical question.

Ariadne Fri 15-Nov-13 21:53:59

Oh dear....

Flowerofthewest Fri 15-Nov-13 17:28:14

Pam in disguise?

Ariadne Fri 15-Nov-13 17:21:54

Now that is more like it, sussex! (I'm a poet too, in a quiet way.) Thank you!

This is slightly longer than your 4 lines, but it's very popular with audiences (I am a performance poet)

As I was enjoying my first cup of coffee
An elderly lady in a straw hat trimmed with flowers
strolled past my living room window
And we exchanged smiles.
It was not until some time later, while preparing lunch
That I recollected that my flat is on the 17th floor.

Daisyanswerdo Thu 14-Nov-13 17:47:51

Here's the first line, now keep going;
Here's the second - half-way through!
Two lines more, it's fairly flowing.
Here's the fourth - but will it do?
