Woken by brilliant sunshine streaming round the edges of the curtains, what a difference in the light here. Let DH do the early morning market run while I got the washing on and caught up with gransnet I'm wearing the same sort of clothes as in DH's centrally heated house but felt my fingers were a bit cold. Then I realised that the French doors are wide open.
It's a bright sunny day but a chilly wind. Lovely in a sheltered spot.
I' m off out to lunch with some friends.

Good morning everyone - bright but I dare say very cold again here in Michigan - the wind yesterday was biting. This morning younger DGS is going to a DIY store for a hands on project - all free and people on hand to give assistance if necessary. Before the DIY a breakfast of pancakes at a nearby establishment is planned. All sounds good to me. Enjoy your days.

Good (oops) afternoon! Could it get any greyer, wetter, more miserable? Do not answer that, I suspoect I know already! Such fun here - flu jabs this morning which meant driving round and round to find somewhere to park (DH can't walk too far and I didnlt feel in the mood!) then queue up and shuffle round the corridors until a nice nurse gives you "sharp scratch " (apparently they're not allowed to say "small prick" any more grin) and that's you. Oh apparently the good news is that I'm entitled to a pneumonia jab, but the bad news is that they ran out weeks ago. They are also out of shingles vaccine but as I am neither 70 nor 79 I wouldn't have been eligible anyway. Then we were given a questionnaire to fill out including questions like "Do you cycle to work?" This was old dears' flu jab day for heavens sake! confused AS usual saw most of our sexagenarian friends either in the queue on the way in or passed them on the way out!

Oh thanks for that newist, will have to look it up.

newist Sat 09-Nov-13 12:17:21

There is a long string of Islands to the left of you posie

posie Sat 09-Nov-13 11:55:00

Good morning newist, my geography is useless, just curious as to where approx. you are, as re your "no trees"?

newist Sat 09-Nov-13 11:34:34

Good morning all, posie I have lit my fire because its chilly here in the Atlantic, but unlike yourself ours is peat, because we have no trees

posie Sat 09-Nov-13 11:24:38

A frosty start up here on the north coast of Scotland. Sunny & bright now, still a bit on the chilly side so away to fill log basket ready to feed the log burner.

Started bright and sunny here but raining now. I rose early to walk into town and back about a mile and half so managed to get home before the downpour. My younger son has gone down to Sussex to do a 17 mile Spartan run with obstacles. I'm hoping it's still dry down there until he finishes.

Blue sky and sunny here in the north east. I was in Cumbria all week and we had torrential rain, we drove back through Yorkshire, M6 closed, and the roads were rivers and in one village the road had actually fallen into the river. Today I won't have to keep the house lights on all day smile

very watery sun trying to break through the clouds here in Essex. Today sorting out the Secret Santa list for the family Christmas party and getting things ready for a talk on Tuesday.

Me too MrsM altho, looking at the pouring rain, I might change my mind and watch on telly instead!
Certainly back down to earth for the wonderful A.P. he's due to ride at Wincanton and it's so wet at the mo' sad

MrsM Sat 09-Nov-13 09:47:22

It's pouring - and we're being taken to The Races in a short while [not really sure I'm looking forward to it smiley] smile
Mustn't look a gift horse in the mouth though ... oh, that was an unintentional (not very) funny
It is forecast to cheer up, so fingers crossed. Perhaps I will be much richer by this time tomorrow? Hmm. I don't think so - anyone ever seen a poor bookie?

Lona Sat 09-Nov-13 09:36:16

Frosty start but dampness now. I feel zombie-like this morning after yet another ghastly night. I had a cup of decaf tea before bed, but felt as though I'd been on 'speed'!
Last nights concert was wonderful though smile

Still raining in Normandy and a very wet OH has just come in with the day's log supply. The market was very wintry this morning with a cold wind blowing and stalls full of winter vegetables.

Grannyknot Sat 09-Nov-13 09:30:28

Overcast, but dry and mild in SW London. Expecting 15 year old nephew from out of town plus 2 of his friends for sleep over post London gig attendance, so I better ensure food supplies are sufficient. I've been mildly surprised that the other sets of parents, who don't know us from a bar of soap, haven't phoned to check arrangements or at least made contact. Clearly, I'm a dinosaur for expecting that. smile

PRINTMISS Sat 09-Nov-13 08:46:37

Good morning everyone, it is dry here at the moment, after about 3 hours or torrential stair rods yesterday afternoon - a good reason to remain in Sainsbury's restaurant with our friends and linger over lunch (yes all 3 hours). Off out soon as the same weather promised again, and no lunch arrangements made. Enjoy your days.

Charleygirl Sat 09-Nov-13 08:22:16

Cold but dry in NW London. I am telling my brain to get a move on as I have to be at the gym for 10.30am. Then to undo the good work a free cup of coffee at Waitrose. I will leave the sticky buns and cakes on the counter.

kittylester Sat 09-Nov-13 08:08:17

Good morning! Greyish here in north Leicestershire but at least it's not raining!

A quick walk into the village for me today to pay the paper bill and visit the florist. Then into town to buy one or two C*******s presents before I forget the really good ideas I've had. grin

Enjoy your days everyone sunshine

Aka Sat 09-Nov-13 08:03:53

Dry and sunny here in the Midlands. Just let the chucks out. Half of them are going through their annual moult and look a sorry sight.

Kiora Sat 09-Nov-13 07:54:18

Morning all. It's dry& bright here In Kent but think it may rain later can feel it in my bones! Packing away summer clothes today ...wish I could get rid of some of them, I blame my own mother for this 'it's in good condition and I might be grateful for it one day attitude'

Brendawymms Sat 09-Nov-13 07:42:48

Calm and dry in East Sussex the sky is partially cloudy but ok. Yesterday got i bought the winter wild bird supplies. They eat better than me! On the menu today seed, peanuts and fat balls.
