Just found a new website - www.81words.net - and submitted a story to it, just 81 words long.
It is an interesting challenge to try and create a complete story in such a short framework and, although it is very new and only about a dozen contributors have submitted, there are already a number of different approaches to how to do it.
But what makes a piece of writing a story? (as opposed to a joke, a statement, a poem or a description).
In my view, a story needs to inform us of some development, something needs to happen so that the situation at the end is different from where it started.
Any thoughts?
