Have just returned from a wonderful evening in the company of Pam Ayres. Such a gifted, talented and funny woman, very engaging. It was actually a book signing held at our local independent cinema. Absolutely packed and she had us enthralled and in stitches. A better £5 spent I cannot think of. AND the ticked could be used as a fiver off the book, bargain.
My only blot on the landscape was the fact that I realised, too late, that I smelled of haddock!!! I had just cooked a last minute fish pie for my beloved as I had to dash out for 6pm. I quickly adjusted my make-up, pulled on my boots and made a run for my friend's car. I did shake Pam Ayres hand but would have liked to hug her (with permission of course) - I don't think she would appreciate the perfume.
