I think it's great, too, gillybob! I never get fed up of watching the Corrie meerkats anyway! grin

Gary Barlow is great! isn't he? We've got tickets to see him in concert in April! I know he's a bit young, but I do think he's gorgeous. Sad, really smile

All the Meerkat adverts are great but they really pushed out the boat on the Gary Barlow one in Corrie, nuno have to disagree re him looking like our David B but they do have the same family values as regards to their children.

I enjoy the Meerkats almost as much as Corrie these days. I saw the Gary Barlow and Meerkat song and loved it, good for Gary, great publicity. I loved the Meerkats going to Blackpool and doing all the stuff my parents and grandparents did there. I'm now enjoying their preparations for Christmas. I especially enjoy the little Meerkat creeping under the tree, to terrify himself when is Christmas box gets noisy. It's so good to have a laugh either side of the fairly miserable traumas so many of the Corrie characters are enduring in the build up to the Christmas/New year tragedies.

I wonder if he is the long lost son of Ken and Deirdre ?

I love the Meerkats too. Jealous of your tickets hummingbird smile

What on earth are you all talking about ??!!!!

I know what 'Corrie' is and what a Meercat is and I've even heard of Gary Barlow (not sure I would recognise him though!) but I am struggling to put the three together.

Am I the only one of us to be so ignorant or have I just had a lucky escape?? !

He's been advertising and singing with the Meercats in the Corrie advert breaks, Tiggy. Very entertaining!

sunseeker Thu 12-Dec-13 09:43:07

Glad I'm not the only one tiggypiro !

gillybob Thu 12-Dec-13 10:08:30

tiggy The Meerkats have been advertising (Compare the Meerkat Market) during the Coronation Street advert breaks for a year now and to celebrate they have recorded a special performance on the cobbles with Gary Barlow singing his new song. They/he/it may not be to everyones taste but I think it's good fun and like many others have said I love watching their funny little antics.

I made the "long lost son of Ken and Deirdre" comment in relation to the fact that they are all Barlows !

Oh well, you can't please all the people all the time. smile

I really enjoyed that! Thank you, gillybob.

I do like Gary Barlow was just unaware of the ad because I don't watch Corrie.

tiggypiro Thu 12-Dec-13 12:48:40

Thanks gillybob - it all makes sense now but as I am not a 'Corrie' watcher I doubt if I'll see it. I used to be an avid 'Corrie' watcher but got fed up with the gloom and doom.

gillybob Thu 12-Dec-13 13:24:39

Yes it can be a bit miserable at times tiggy My grandma and mum are were avid viewers until the horrible storyline involving the slow, untimely death of Hayley Cropper storyline. This is just a bit too close to home for my liking. I don't think people watch the likes of Corrie to be depressed. sad

Worth watching the Meerkats though. grin

I got two out of three, as I have heard of 'Corrie' and I'm fond of the Meerkats... The boy sounds as though he might be good one day, when he has better songs to sing - what I heard of the words to that one made little or no sense...

I see Coronation Street is now on it's fifth outdoor set. I visited years ago when it was the second iteration and I was doing some show there. Gave up on the show when some ghastly types called 'Battersby' arrived...

I love the panto element of Corrie, but confess I couldn't face the doom this week, when feeling not quite on top of the world. I feel the Roy and Hayley story line is being done as well as this serious and tragic story line can be, on a soap. I was relieved they decided to kill Hayley off, as the actor wanted to move on. Her relationship with Roy has been a real soap joy, and the nature of their relationship such, that they would never leave each other as they're a for life partnership. The actor is appearing in a play at the Royal Exchange in February - here's wishing her success in her career.
