Good morning - it's dark, wet and windy in N-W London. We are on a hill so won't flood but don't think we'll be going out today. Things have rather slipped over the last two weeks. We need to get back into our usual routine I think.

Good morning all. We have received 'the call' because of possible flooding. I am busy trying to find my snorkel grin

thatbags Fri 03-Jan-14 07:24:30

Hoolies here. Might do some more eucalyptus shredding today. Must make flapjack too. There hasn't been any in the tin for TWO DAYS!

Bez Fri 03-Jan-14 07:36:01

Dull and grey here - rain most of the night so everywhere looking damp. Hope everyone is OK - awful pictures on TV this morning. Good luck ladies if you are under threat. X x

Take care Liz

Dark, wet and windy in North Leicestershire, too. Our 3x per year gardener is supposed to be coming today but she lives on a house boat so I hope she can get here. shock

Lots of rain overnight but it's dawning bright and clear here. I hope things won't be too bad for those being hit by the forecast storms.

AlieOxon Fri 03-Jan-14 08:08:07

Hi all. Rain overnight, now clear one side(west) but stormy-looking the other.
Have the whole in side of the house draped in the FIVE lots of washing I did yesterday, new washing machine in! Hopefully I can get most of it dry today. Was on my feet too much and now have sore back.....

tiggypiro Fri 03-Jan-14 08:18:44

Good morning all. Breezy but dry in North Yorkshire and I do hope some of you are not suffering the weather too much and that 'normality' will be restored soon. I am just taking a moment of calm to try and catch up - guest, DD, DGS (4), and DGS (5mths) all still in bed so peace and quiet for a few more minutes I hope.

Good morning everyone. In East Sussex we have just had the heaviest shower of rain I think I have ever experienced. No wind at the moment. The ground is totally sodden. Stamp on the grass and you can hear the water ripple away. I am also expecting the gardener but will be surprised if he comes. Did my shopping yesterday in the dry so not going out today.

Lona Fri 03-Jan-14 09:03:43

Damp and slightly breezy here, we really are very lucky.

I've been sleeping so well ever since I put a very light, fine throw on my bed, even though I wasn't feeling cold. It's made such a difference.

This afternoon I'm expecting a visit from a school friend who lives mainly in Barbados. I haven't seen her for eleven years, so I'm looking forward to it.

Good morning all, I feel almost guilty saying that its a beautiful morning again here, we seem to miss all this bad weather. I think we are living in a tiny micro climate. Thinking about all you poor folk down there, with the threat of more flooding. Take care all of you. Off to the charity shop this morning with old GC toys, old clothes, books etc. Had a very cathartic clear out yesterday. New sofa and bedroom furniture arriving on Monday, cant wait. How sad am I.

Charleygirl Fri 03-Jan-14 09:22:25

Hopefully the ground will dry a bit in preparation for the next onslaught of wind and rain. The sun is peeping through in NW London.

Bellasnana Fri 03-Jan-14 09:26:41

Sorry to hear of all the bad weather in various places. Hope everyone will be ok.

Wow, Alie - you were excited to have your new washing machine! Five loads - you beat my two, although I have just been up to hang another two loads on the roof ( flat roofs here in Malta). It is lovely and sunny so hoping it lasts.

Hope you all have a good day sunshine

annodomini Fri 03-Jan-14 10:12:26

So far, bright and breezy in NE Cheshire. There is something to be said for living this far inland. Sister and BiL have left to go back to Scotland via the Lake District. I am vegging out at the moment.

harrigran Fri 03-Jan-14 10:16:03

Good morning from a bright sunny north east. Yesterday I managed a walk along the sea front but today I must take down all the decorations and put them back in the attic. Tomorrow we have a funeral followed by dinner with DD and SIL, Sunday is spent with GDs and on Monday DS goes to hospital for an operation as a day patient, he may be incapacitated for a while so perhaps more childcare, lets hope the weather does not deteriorate here.

AlieOxon Fri 03-Jan-14 10:37:45

Sudden burst of heavy rain here, and black black sky to the east.
Good thing I didn't put any of this wet washing out!

AlieOxon Fri 03-Jan-14 10:38:51

WEST, not east!

Galen Fri 03-Jan-14 11:04:22

Very windy night. Slightly better now for the moment.

AlieOxon Fri 03-Jan-14 11:10:52

That was wet HAIL, not rain. By the back door it looks like the bobbles you get when you break up polystyrene!

Nonu Fri 03-Jan-14 11:48:23

Good morning , bright shiney day here !
Am going for a nice swim this afternoon to HOPEFULLY kickstart the diet !

Ali at least with the heating on in the evening your washing will dry. It has taken so long to get the machine installed and working.

Charleygirl Fri 03-Jan-14 12:15:09

Apologies Alie

AlieOxon Fri 03-Jan-14 12:20:29

I'm putting it on the radiators in sequence NOW, starting with the wettest....
The machine sat here from Monday, but I had to wait to get it after the old one died, because of budgeting to pay for new gutters first - so did a lot of hand washing!

Yes. I started spelling it Alie when there were others around, to distinguish it from the Ali's
(That's probably a wrong use of the apostrophe, but it looks better than Alis!)
