My dear old Dad fell down his rather steep stairs when he was well into his eighties. He cracked two ribs quite badly but there was no treatment - they prefer to leave them to heal naturally apparently. Very painful until they do and sneezing, coughing and sleeping were problematic. Hope you both soon feel a bit easier Thistledoo and Dusty. flowersflowers

Have you seen your GP? If the ribs are cracked you might get treatment. I am not sure what they do for cracked ribs, but there must be something.

Thistledoo Sun 12-Jan-14 19:36:54

Poor you Dusty, I have no bruising on ribs but as day has worn on I am very uncomfortable. Was at Ice rink this afternoon [spectating] with DGD, and guess what, I sneezed...... agony doesn't come near.
At least you had a bruise to show for your embarrassment.
Hope you are feel better now.flowers

Good afternoon all, thick, white cloud cover here but it is keeping it mild still.

Thistle, I did the same thing a few weeks ago and ended up with an enormous bruise on my face that didn't hurt and unbruised ribs which definitely did.
flowers for you.

Good morning from the north east, frost only just melting now. Going to see GC but where they live it will snow tonight so I have to find the boots and warm coat.
DD flying to her home abroad this morning, don't know when I will see her again sad Sometimes comes to UK for her birthday but at work in Lisbon this year so not possible. Good news is that a flight to Brussels from Newcastle starts in March, saves the trip via Heathrow smile

Thistle No laughing for you! flowers

Good morning, it's a bit frosty and the sun is trying hard here!

Didn't PRINTMISS say she was going somewhere? Holiday maybe, hope she's ok.

Housework for me this morning, then I'm going to a concert this evening at the Bridgewater Hall with my friend. She is 4 weeks into her second lot of chemotherapy, and the strain is beginning to show sad

At least her hair is growing again, but after another 8 weekly sessions, she then has to face a double mastectomy.

She doesn't complain, and my job is to keep her smiling smile

Enjoy your lunch ALIE

Bellasnana Sun 12-Jan-14 10:12:28

Good morning. It started sunny but has clouded over since I pegged out two loads of washing - typical. DH has gone off with the Ramblers as usual.
Hope you all have a good day sunshine

By the way - where is Printmiss? It is a while since she posted so hope all is well.

AlieOxon Sun 12-Jan-14 09:56:14

Mornin' all.
Will be out most of the day as I'm having lunch with daughter and her boyfriend in Oxford, not where we hoped as the road is flooded, but should be good anyway!
See you later....

Bright and frosty in Brum.

Thistledoo Sun 12-Jan-14 09:46:27

Good morning everyone, it seems to be a pretty cold morning everywhere today. We have a hard frost, snow yesterday but turned to sleet on the lower levels. There are grey snowy looking clouds looming on the horizon so looks like a bit more of the white stuff today. Walked into the town yesterday afternoon, tripped and fell awkwardly. Think I may have cracked a couple of ribs, very painful. I felt a right plonka. blush

Sook Sun 12-Jan-14 09:46:18

Good morning as Nellie says it is b*** cold here in Cheshire. Have been out with the hounds for our morning walk and then tucked into porridge with prunes and pumpkin seeds. Nothing planned for the day ahead, may just have a lazy day for a change.

Kiora Sun 12-Jan-14 09:43:24

Thanks Bez is that done mostly for soft fruit

Bez Sun 12-Jan-14 09:37:33

Kiora. espalier is roughly speaking when the tree is grown along a wall or along wires and it has just a couple of branches either side growing along the wall/ wire. Makes for much easier picking and also for any removal of stunted fruit to let the good ones grow bigger --- or that is my understanding!
Hope your OH appreciated the full English !

Grey day here - Theseus has gone off for a bike ride, hoping to beat the approaching rain. Determined to improve his time for the Bideford triathlon...

Oldgreymare Sun 12-Jan-14 09:25:49

Getting greyer here by the minute sad
Hoping to pick up a 'cancellation' for a concert later. Should have been more organised hmm

liminetta Sun 12-Jan-14 09:09:20

Good morning everyone. Rather chilly here in east Lancashire. My feet are cold now, so I must make an effort and get out of this otherwise warm bed! smile

Nelliemoser Sun 12-Jan-14 09:04:48

Sorry good chilly morning as well. NFK wrap up warm for your birding.

Nelliemoser Sun 12-Jan-14 09:01:57

A hard frost in Cheshire and the wind seems to be getting up.
Accu weather suggests wind chill at -7C. It must be B** cold out there.

Kiora Sun 12-Jan-14 08:46:58

Morning Mick and all bright and frosty in kent. Bez I'm a real city girl so your post is like a foreign language to me. I wish it wasn't. Nfk is birding bird watching? Where do you go isn't it a bit nippy. What ever your doing I hope you enjoy it. I'm off to cook a full English for him upstairs.

Brendawymms Sun 12-Jan-14 08:42:26

Good morning all. Bright and cold in East Sussex with frost on the shed roof. Having turkey for lunch today as I didn't have any over Xmas. Got the butcher to slice a turkey in half so half in the freezer, half in the oven. Will keep the rest for Easter.

Bez Sun 12-Jan-14 08:38:38

Good morning - bright and sunny here - DH is having problems with a couple of fruit trees he is trying to grow in the espalier manner so a friend is coming shortly to give him a hand with it - she has some lovely ones in her garden. Hope everyone has a happy day.

NfkDumpling Sun 12-Jan-14 07:25:37

'Mornin' just dawning cold, clear and bright. Off to do a bit of birding when DH surfaces.
