Good news. Hope he buys his mum a bunch of flowers with his first wage packet.

Brilliant news! I feel so sorry for these young people who work their way through school and uni only to find hey cannot get a job. This really is good news. Give him a quick boot out of bed!

Congratulations - it's a relief when they start to earn proper money!

ninathenana Sat 18-Jan-14 11:21:03

He's on permanent late shift so no worries about getting up smile.
It's not what he spent 3yrs at college for, but who gives a ..... He certainly doesn't.
Pogs it's my birthday next week. <she says in anticipation>

I shall be you, in five years' time, probably! Mine has just started uni but I really cannot see him making a living from being a composer... However, he says that he can always stack shelves in Tesco and write in his spare time! So congratulations to your son, getting any job at the moment is tough, mine can't even get a Saturday job in Cambridge.

Anne58 Sat 18-Jan-14 11:44:02

Very pleased for you both, hope doing nights isn't too much of a shock to the system!

Great news nina

My son too studied for 3 years and still works in a branch of Cafe Rouge, he was a mature student and came back home when his relationship of 5 years ended. He also says he can work there and still find time to utilise his skills learned in his own time until he finds the job he wants.

annodomini Sat 18-Jan-14 18:29:21

I hope to have similar news this year about my GD who graduated last summer. She worked al her time at uni and has worked in pub and recently a shop s well ever since. Driving test on Wednesday... Fingers crossed.

Young people get such a bad press but things are so tough for them now. I have an autistic grandchild (high-functioning but it still blights every aspect of life) and I can't imagine her future. Where there are no jobs for graduates, what hope is there for kids with problems?

ffinnochio Sat 18-Jan-14 19:38:02

Nina I wish him all the very best. Long may it continue. sunshine

janeainsworth Sat 18-Jan-14 19:38:04

Really pleased for you Nina, I think you get a nice feeling of 'job done' once they are established in a proper job. I hope your DS enjoys his work smile
