hmm my namesake may have been wise? My DD would not agree. But then she does ask for advice on medical problems.

But, thank you for the compliment!blush

dusty your poem said it all. smile

Like phoenix I have been here since the beginning, champing at the bit over in Mumsnet waiting for the grand opening and it has been life saving for me and wonder where I would have been without the support from my GN friends.

Nowhere else could you find turkey necks and toilet brushes sharing a space. I think Gransnet's a bit special.

Have to agree about GN forum. I have belonged to other forums and the venomous postings of some caused me to leave. There are lively debates on GN but I don't think anyone posts with the intention of upsetting or annoying someone else. Personally, I spend far too much time reading through the threads grin

As you can see from the Op on the "Won Anything?" thread, I have been here since practically day one!! (That particular competition was the first one ever)

I have found the forum and it's members to be pretty special, so glad that others feel the same.

Hello dustyangel [good name!] Yes, it is a very good site I agree, and when you need to know something, there is always somebody who not only knows the answer, but is willing to take the time to tell you. I'm usually not a big fan of forum type sites as there are often a lot of 'trolls' but by and large this is a very un-confrontational site.Let's face it, we don't need arguments here, there are enough in the real world. Most are kind enough to consider what impact their comments may have on others.

I thought of putting this on the "In praise of" thread but as that is changing into a party thread in the wonderful way of GN.... here it is.

About a year ago today,
I found a whole new way to play.
I gradually became aware,
There are a lot of friends out there.
Thatbags and soop and wise Galen,
Occasionally there are some men.
They're funny, clever, kind and wise
These friends of mine.
Though one surprise,
To find they're spread around the globe.
To lands afar the net unfolds.
The ring of friendship never ends,
The world's a smaller place with friends.

With apologies to the three whose names I've used. Quite simply your's were the names that came into my mind when I first wrote it.
Thank you all for being there. Earlier this year I had a lot going on in my life that I couldn't post about but I knew that if I could, all of you would have supported me and given me good advice. I learnt about GN at the same time I was learning about the computer and I wouldn't be without either.
