Roderick A family of McIntyres own and run a successful small business in Tarbert. I live in Kintyre and was born in Northamptonshire.

Very late in the day for me, internet been off all day. Started off nice this morning so DH and I took my sister to Durham for lunch. While we were in the restaurant there was a heavy downpour which left lakes by the side of the road. We went back to ours for tea and DS rang to ask if he could call, was on his way back from the football match. DS and GD were soaked and freezing so hot drinks all round and then some warm food. GD curled up on the sofa with a favourite DVD and was soon cosy. What a cruel Daddy taking a spelk of a girl to sit for 90 minutes.

Soop, thanks for message,Kintyre reminds me that my fathers name was McIntyre Ure
He was born in the Gorbals ,Glasgow but I am in Loughborough

Been pouring here. Phoned my sister and it's pouring over by Chepstow too.
Have been pottering around dealing with some house plants and painting a plant holder.
soop I wish I could hear that sea!

soop Sat 25-Jan-14 16:14:25

Stay warm and cosy, Roderick. The sky is gunmetal grey in bonnie Kintyre. The wind is very blustery and the sea is crashing on the shore. smile

The day started very dull and now a thunderstorm,so not going anywhere

KatyK Sat 25-Jan-14 14:35:04

We now have thunder, lightning and hail!

A can't make up its mind day in Brum. Rain one minute, sunshine the next. Got up this morning to find two large cardboard boxes in the porch. Special delivery of flowers, chocolate and wine, a lovely card telling us we are wonderful parents from our DD and her family and thanking us for ferrying her about, taking her out, ironing etc whilst she had a broken foot (now mended).
Feeling ashamed for some of my posts on here about her leaving me out. I am officially pathetic. blush

AlieOxon Sat 25-Jan-14 13:57:05

Don't forget that tonight there is a Burns Night party AND a singalong at soop's.....have a great evening

dustyangel Sat 25-Jan-14 12:06:33

Meant to say have a good weekend every one. smile

dustyangel Sat 25-Jan-14 12:04:40

I've been envying you Kitty having GC to visit little and often. GS has just text to see if he and a friend can come for all next week. Lovely but it's more of an "event" than if they could just pop in. We've told them that they are welcome anytime but we can't guarantee the weather.smile

It is bright and sunny today but a very cold wind

henetha Sat 25-Jan-14 11:22:55

I overslept and didn't get up until 9 o,clock !!!! The day is all out of kilter now, - but the sun is shining. smile

Kiora Sat 25-Jan-14 11:20:10

Morning from damp kent. The fog is lifting but I'm not hopeful that the sun will appear. I miss drying washing on the line. I know its ridiculous but hanging washing out too dry is such a housewifely pleasure. I don't own up to any house work pleasure I'm really not cut out for it. But drying washing outside is different. Will the grey ever go?

kittylester Sat 25-Jan-14 10:35:11

OGM, I know what you mean about having them little and often. We have two lots who live near enough to do that but DD2 lives too far away to make it worthwhile. Last time it was 11 days!! One time before that 14 weeks shock

Oldgreymare Sat 25-Jan-14 10:26:33

Morning All,
Planning a yomp around Stourhead ahead of tomorrow's promised deluge.
Haven't seen you before Roderick so hello to you.
Kitty I'd love to have the GC for little regular visits but it's all or nothing here. Family come together and stay 5-7 days, I know you have yours to stay too, but fussiness and dietary restrictions mean I generally seem to be cooking all day!
We have had DGS on his own a couple of times and it has been bliss!

Thistledoo Sat 25-Jan-14 09:59:24

Sorry don't know what happened there, I certainly didn't post twice.

Thistledoo Sat 25-Jan-14 09:58:44

Good morning everyone, really awful day here, rain and sleat, heavy cloud so probably wont get any better as the day wears on.
Had a good sleep for the first time since cracking ribs in a fall over my two left feet 2 weeks ago. Gave in to taking pain killers every four hours to get on top of the pain. Feel like a new woman today.
Will go to the ice rink today [not skating] to watch DGD having a lesson. Brrrrr.

Dull, overcast and damp - but not actually raining at the moment here in South Wales. Grandson is spending the weekend with his other grandparents, so we have the day to ourselves. So current plans include driving to Monmouth (about 20 miles away), doing a spot of geocaching, and having lunch in a pub.

AlieOxon Sat 25-Jan-14 09:26:26

Mornin' all.
Bright but not sunny here.
I like MESSY charity shops. There is one here which is a bit posher and I rarely go in.
I hate the idea of putting the same colour clothes together - who thought that one up? If I look at clothes I want say a Tshirt, not something red!

There's a shop here that looks like a charity shop but isn't...though they say they get donations...not actually pretending to be though, and slightly puzzling.

Thought I might have a grandson coming today, but it's now next Sat.

Good morning from Loughborough on a damp Saturday morning

Elegran Sat 25-Jan-14 09:14:36

At our local Bethany Shop the nice manageress has left and been replaced. I don't know what the new one is like, because the windows have since gone so minimal and posh that I am afraid to go in for an aimless wander (which often used to end with me buying something) in case I am thrown out for vagrancy.

There is only a mannequin in a tasteful dress with a pair of elegantly displayed high boots beside her, a couple of white-painted shelves with things like leather gloves on, and several purple net rosettes.

I miss the mixture of toys, small electrical goods, ornaments, books and so on that used to be there.

Across the road is Shelter, which didn't used to fill their windows quite as full as Bethany did. They now have gone in for the "show 'em what you've got to sell" approach - and always seem much busier.

Nelliemoser Sat 25-Jan-14 08:54:38

Good morning!
Lona enjoy your day.

Brenda W There is a charity shop for our local hospice which opened earlier this year. They seem to go in for smartish clothes and no bric a brac etc. I rarely see anyone in it and the manageress is described as a real martinet.
It appears that a number of volunteers have been driven off by her overbearing attitude.

The other three charity shops do well. As you say, they need to have a think about their marketing style a bit more.

Good morning from a still very damp Dordogne - rained all day yesterday and still raining - the ditches outside are full and the Dordogne has flooded some of the bank in Begerac. Flooding has started in some of the fields and vineyards around.
I hope those poor people in Somerset do not get a lot more rain.
This evening we are off to a quiz so looking forward to that. Enjoy your weekend. and ' My Fair Lady'. Kitty

Lona Sat 25-Jan-14 08:03:40

Good morning! It's damp, there's a surprise. Still, I'm going for lunch with my friend who is half way through her chemo, and we always have a laugh smile
Liz Hope you're ok today sunshine

Enjoy your weekend all.
