Oops. Note to self: do not put your full cup of tea amongst the clean ones that you are about to put away in the cupboard. Doing so results in tea everywhere - pouring out of the cupboard, over the kettle, over the clean cups, dripping onto the floor, down the side of the cooker, on the computer! blush shock Phew, at least it still seems to be working.

Can I blame OH for passing the clean cups over to me to put away? If he hadn't done that, it wouldn't have happened.
No? Hmm, he said it wasn't his fault either!

Thanks Alie. It's some time since I have had to study mouse poo. grin

My DH hates decorating so rarely does it. I few years ago I had nagged him to do the spare (small box) room. He did it under sufferance - plain white wallpaper. We used it as an office/room where we books and things that we had nowhere else to put. We had floor to ceiling shelving in there and as soon as he had finished the decorating he shouted to me 'it's done you can start putting the stuff back on the shelving if you like'. At the time he used to go to France to stock up on wine and beer which we kept on this shelving, along with old bottles of half empty sherry, whiskey etc. I had just put the last item on when the whole lot collapsed. All the bottles smashed, there was red wine running down the new wallpaper, the carpet was a sopping mess. We had put a load of books into boxes which were now saturated and full of fragments of glass. I just couldn't believe it. He was so angry. Unbelievably we cleaned it all up and you would never have known it had happened (even the carpet cleaned up). For weeks afterwards anyone who came to the house said 'can I smell Pernod?' There must have been an old bottle on the shelf! blush

Last weeks careless (or stupid) act. I lifted up my laptop, but my glasses got caught in the flex. They started falling to the floor and I stuck my foot out to soften their fall. I missed them and kicked the corner of the kitchen unit. I now have a very painful, probably broken, little toe!

Oh dear.

When we were first married we lived in a house with a quarry-tiled kitchen floor. We had an upright freezer with a small fridge balanced (quite safely) on top of it, but one day as my wife was putting a glass bottle of orange juice back in the fridge she dropped it...................

AlieOxon Tue 28-Jan-14 12:41:11

anno - mouse poo isn't round!

AlieOxon Tue 28-Jan-14 12:40:07

Glass is one of the worst, isn't it? The way a jar can explode when it hits the floor....and I have to get every invisible bit, because of the cat!"

annodomini Tue 28-Jan-14 11:59:51

MamaCaz - giant mouse? What? In my immaculate kitchen? grin

KatyK Tue 28-Jan-14 11:20:36

MamaCaz - it's ridiculous how far one tissue can go, especially when it is in with a dark wash!

MamaCaz Tue 28-Jan-14 11:12:12

KatyK
I did the paper tissue one (again!!!) last week, but up a sleeve rather than in a pocket. It's amazing how far one tissue can go, isn't it - the sleeve looked fur-lined when I took it out of the machine.

Not long ago I left the car key in the pocket of something I washed. Definitely not a good idea with electronic devices!

I knocked over a carton of beetroot juice yesterday. It looked like the aftermath of the St. valentine's Day Massacre hmm

KatyK Tue 28-Jan-14 10:58:02

Despite thorough checking (honestly), leaving a tissue in a pocket when you put washing in the machine.

DH making toast .i don't see how many crumbs can come out of one slice of toast. It's not even an accident.

shysal Tue 28-Jan-14 08:55:17

I find that those sticky re-sealing tabs on dried goods don't stay put. The other day a bag of bulgar wheat fell from a top cupboard, it bounced everywhere. I am still crunching on the floor!

Charleygirl Tue 28-Jan-14 08:55:06

Nfk I am delighted to read that I am not the only idiot allowed out. A little goes a long way and it is so difficult to remove.

NfkDumpling Tue 28-Jan-14 08:47:50

And coffee sticks! I put a spoonful of coffee into a mug - only the mug was upside down. I felt a an embarrassingly long moment of confusion while my brain tried to take stock of what had happened! confused

I used to run a drop-in group for children with learning disabilities. One my used to bring her little boy (with autism) very early and be the last to pick him up (he was a handful) I had just washed the floor of the nursery which we 'borrowed' every Saturday morning when his mum arrived with her shopping. He swiftly grabbed a jar of coffee granules - undid the lid and turned in a circle covering the whole of the wet floor with coffee granules. It took me the best part of an hour clean the mess up.

MamaCaz Mon 27-Jan-14 17:59:30

Are you certain that they were peppercorns under the washer, and that you didn't have a giant mouse problem, Anno? grin

annodomini Mon 27-Jan-14 17:56:24

Black peppercorns all over the floor, and don't they roll! A couple of years later, I replaced the washing machine and found a whole lot more to vacuum up before I would let the delivery men install the new machine.

MamaCaz Mon 27-Jan-14 17:47:48

Lona: grin

I've done that so many times, with all sorts of things - shaken them thinking that the lid was on! You would think that we grans would have learnt by now, wouldn't you!

Stansgran Mon 27-Jan-14 17:44:55

It's like blood. Gets everywhere.

Lona Mon 27-Jan-14 17:01:45

I got a tub of thickening granules out last week, took the lid off, saw the white paper seal was still there, and then shook the tub really hard!

Why? I don't know......................but white granules were everywhere because I'd already used some and not removed the paper top completely!

And I mean everywhere! hmm

Nelliemoser Mon 27-Jan-14 15:13:05

MamaCaz grin Yes I have done things like that.

MamaCaz Mon 27-Jan-14 14:18:55

Yes, I've supposedly cleaned up several times since it happened but still keep spotting more of it. And I'm going to have to make myself another cuppa now! smile

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 27-Jan-14 14:07:43

It's amazing how a little goes a long way when you don't want it to! grin
