I have had a brilliant afternoon and yes, I have been shopping! A very generous friend gave me a £20 Waterstone's gift card as a thank you for regularly giving her a life to classes we both go to as she doesn't drive. I have maintained I was going anyway but she is kind! So off I went to spend it!
I bought "Wake" the new novel by Anna Hope about the bringing to London of the Unknown Warrior in 1920; The Last Runaway by Tracy Chevalier, about slavery and a book I had never heard of called The Perfume Collector by Kathleen Tessaro which miught be rubbish or might be fun. Because the last 2 were on a buy one get one half price my bill was £24.99, but DH had given me his Waterstones' points card which had £2.99 on it so all I paid for 3 books was £2! Then I wandered down to John Lewis and spotted a pair of tan suede shoes in Clarks sale- £69.99 marked down to £34.99 and then again to £19.99!! No brainer. Finally to John Lewis for my favourite Liz Earle superskin serum and that was rather pricey, but still had a little browse and a spray or two of favourite perfumes and thence home.
I had lovely chats wth the nice young men and women who served me, it was not very busy and I came home feeling I had had a good afternoon.
