The thing that gets me, is that they're all so terribly earnest about it all.

They do seem very preoccupied with their ages. I remember being a bit like that when I was middle-aged, then I thought sod it - if I'm going to be old I might as well enjoy it!

Rather boring in fact. Do we really want to associate ourselves with people who obsessively talk babies, breast feeding and washing powders. Been there, done that, got the video and T shirt etc.

Now is the summer of my great content when I can do other things, go other places. Best friend has just returned from holidaying in Ethiopia and is planning a trip to Nepal, Whats more we can go cheaply because we can go outside school holidays and they need us more than we need them. How many of us provide free childcare at some critical time or another.

Dragonfly, now you're asking! The first virtual party we held was Halloween 2011, on Pendle Hill. We all came on broomsticks and Biker insisted on bringing her two 'inflatable friends'. I was thinking 40 was middle aged Galen. Despite what the young mumsnetters like to think. I was quite preoccupied with my age then. I'm 61 now and embracing it - no longer give a stuff!
