Ebay addiction.

Love the video janerowena, I hadn't heard it before.

My postman says I am keeping him and the village Post Office in a job! The sorting is done at the shop, so I always make a large batch of festive cakes, biscuits or sweets before Christmas to say 'thank you' to them all.

I understand My Hermes is a cheaper way of sending stuff, and the local Co-op is a collection point. However, I have received a few broken items. The lady who delivers rings the bell, props the package against the cat flap, and runs away! I have a notice in red asking couriers not to obscure the flap, but she obviously has not read it. Grrr!

I suppose the postage was a bit too much?

I was suddenly reminded of the excellent Ebay song, which although I had heard it frequently and loved the tune, took me a couple of years before I realised what the words were about!

It's very funny. And far too true - another complaint from the postman this morning, I am sitting here in the debris from a brown lace top, a lipliner, two tubes of rough skin remover and a couple of wedgwood sideplates. The postman asked if I would please move to the other end of the village.

have temporarily left off buying/selling on ebay as postage costs were becoming so prohibitive and lots of sellers overestimate postage costs to their advantage. Not so lucrative since ebay take a percentage of postage cost as well.
usefull are collection only things if it is something you want - found good garden furniture this way old but perfectly usable.
only one or two hiccups when things didn't arrive but was always refunded.
had a clearout of my wardrobe and got rid of my size 8 and 10 working clothes and used the opportunity to buy in size 12 jeans etc. most of which were used and going dirt cheap.
just to add re preloved - found my lovely dog on there by posting a wanted ad - risky but he is lovely and |I did pick him up in person

Don't you have a local library, number? I borrow 10-12 at a time, also use their service for free 'books' for my tablet using the Overdrive app.

Charleygirl, the trouble is, those 10 books only last me 3 weeks max! I`ve started buying used now when I can, it`s a bit cheaper.

I love eBay for all those little things like phone batteries, ductape, velcro, pen refills, jewellery findings, safety pins, etc. that you can never quite find in the shops. I always search on ebay first. Also they are usually a lot cheaper. I also collect stamps and have sold some so ebay is great for that. You can often get used stuff that is just as good as new for hobbies.

I like Paypal too. Never had any problems with it.

numberplease I thought that I was bad enough re my book buying but 10! Still, at least you enjoy them and they do have bargains.

I like Paypal, it is so easy! When shopping on line I always look for the sellers who offer it.

when you write freelance for a newspaper here in the U.S. they pay you through PayPal so you have to have an account to get paid.

I`m not a member on Ebay, probably a good thing, but I spend a lot of time on Amazon, keep giving in to temptation and ordering books, usually 10 at a time!

Galen, the mealworms are for the birds, but I did see Heston Blumenthal make a pizza topping with some, to tempt children in hospital! He thought it would thrill the boys especially!

Crikey; just remembered I've got two leather jackets in my wardrobe, passed on from my daughter. Going to dig them out and see what they're like. How much do they sell for??

I look at ebay every day. I buy all kinds of things too and also sell things like books, handbags and clothing. I do have a 100% rating as I do only sell things in perfect condition and also post well packed and promptly. I find it fun as I don't go around the high street shops very much.

You could have had a fantastic trip to Lakeland for some of those items. And a garden centre lunch for others.

And, the best walks are the ones that involve retail therapy!

What puts me off of doing very much online shopping is the fact that it means the postman will knock when I am still unwashed and in my nightie. And you can bet your life DH will be nowhere around to answer.

I am a fan of Freecycle and every plant in this house and the vast majority of books were acquired via that method. My latest aquisition is an elderly Kindle in great working order.

The problem with Freecycle is that people can take advantage because it is free by not turning up to collect the item.

I have given away a lot also and I could have made money on ebay but somehow I am put off buying and/or selling with ebay. I am a great fan of Amazon and buy frequently from them because it is so easy. To date I have not had a problem.
