Blue sky and fluffy white clouds in the East Midlands. The S.O. tells me it's ok oop north on the coast as well. I still can't believe that all this bad weather is happening; made a flask of hot water last night in case there was another power cut. How many people are unable to get to work/school etc at the moment? Unusual weather in parts of America as well, I believe. Have we got snow to come I wonder?

Just a jolly note. I realised I should have had a follow up blood test in the autumn after surgery early last year.

I dropped a letter into the GP's reception at 9:30 am and the lovely GP has just completed the request form and his secretary rang me to book it for next week. He is a lovely, kind man and a very thorough GP. It is not the first time he has done things like this. There are some good people out there. smile smile

Yes, it was pretty fierce, wasn't it?

Anne58 Thu 13-Feb-14 11:46:58

Just had a hailstorm here in North Devon, masses of it!

Natsnan Thu 13-Feb-14 11:00:57

Beautiful sunny day here in Dorset. Calm too after terrible winds yesterday. But will it last?

Bellasnana Thu 13-Feb-14 10:59:37

Good morning everyone. Lovely sunny day here in Malta with a nice breeze to dry my washing.
Just taken delivery of a big bunch of red roses for DD3 - guess the new boyfriend is keen wink
DH and I have just toddled to the village for a cappuccino. All the little cafes are busy and lots of people sitting out in the sun.
Have a good day everybody sunshine

Mornin' all!
Woke up to sun - and dashed out to take pictures of my bashed shed, first time I have had the right conditions. (Damaged by workmen next door last Friday). Sun has now gone. And I am COLD!
Didn't hear a thing in the night, don't know why - some evidence of things blown around.

Good morning, it's pouring again here but it feels better than yesterday when we were in the clouds. Literally could only see a white blanket out of the window all day. Not as bad as the storms in UK though, I hope all of you are safe and dry.

Very pleased for your daughter Humbertbear, I bet she is thrilled.

Well done Bags. Like Printmiss I always hated driving and gave it up about 25 years ago. I know now I shouldn't have done but I'm not sure I could any more even in the light traffic we have here. I hope I don't have an emergency to check it out.

Yesterday's wind has gone. In Piccadilly yesterday it slashed like a whetted knife through the arcade outside the Ritzl Staggering to and from my club was a near death experience!

harrigran Thu 13-Feb-14 10:29:55

Good morning from a sunny north east. Last night was very stormy and the tiles were rattling on the roof but nothing compared to what others are suffering. Going to hairdressers so hope the weather stays reasonable.

Ariadne Thu 13-Feb-14 10:20:49

Spoke too soon! Hail, rain, wind. And guess who has gone out for a long walk? (Not me..)

BAnanas Thu 13-Feb-14 10:18:06

Looked out of the window with some relief this morning, sun is actually shining and thankfully no rain. The Thames is about 150 yards from our house, and we can see boats bobbing about. We live on a development with communal gardens that run down to the the river and in the last few days the water has washed over the moorings and on to the gardens by 40 feet or so, which is really nothing compared to the poor residents of Datchet and Wraysbury down river. Nevertheless, the river is incredibly swollen and fast with all the water rushing along from the more water logged places and my thoughts are with their residents who are suffering so much from this freak weather along with the people of Somerset. More downpours are on the way for tomorrow and Saturday. We are off to darkest Dorset tomorrow for a 60th birthday so hope that the weather wont be too awful.

Morning all!!

OGM as we have bright blue skies and sunshine in N. Leicestershire, I thought I'd get cracking early. I decided the first thing I'd do would be refill the bird feeders. I've now come back in, smartish, for a nice warm cuppa and I suspect that will be the end of my energy - especially as I'm here now!! sunshine

Sounds like most of us missed anything too awful last night but I haven't yet read the 'Greenhouse' thread.

Enjoy your days everyone.

Oldgreymare Thu 13-Feb-14 09:48:52

Bright-ish to start, then it got darker and darker, then it snowed!!!!! Mizzly rain now. I had been planning a walk with friends..... now cancelled sad.
I have no desire to do anything much at the moment, murky weather malaise, anyone else feel the same or are you all rushing around full of energy?

KatyK Thu 13-Feb-14 09:43:23

Lovely sunny, calm morning in Brum. The winds last night were scary.

Ariadne Thu 13-Feb-14 09:23:14

One of Devon's beautiful mornings - such a relief after the storm last night.

NanKate Thu 13-Feb-14 09:13:06

Sunny morning in the Thames Valley, but for how long ? I will enjoy it while I can.

Went down town to view the Thames yesterday. Our big park next to the river is submerged, never seen that before.

JessM Thu 13-Feb-14 09:11:15

Yes it is quite bright in N Wales too. A strange feeling when the wind dies down after being so fierce. Glad i didn't bother washing the salt spray off the french windows.
Don't think it would fit into the channels at you know where Galen hmm

Galen Thu 13-Feb-14 08:39:01

Dry here with a bright streak over Wales. Guess what?
I can see a drdgersmile
In the Bristol channelhmm!

Brendawymms Thu 13-Feb-14 08:35:10

Guess what. It's raining in East Sussex. So much for a dry day. Watched the red alert yesterday as elder DD works on the Wirral and lives in Chester. I texted her and this alerted all her work colleagues.

Nelliemoser Thu 13-Feb-14 08:26:50

Good morning from Cheshire. it was rough last night but we avoided the worst. One fence panel in next doors garden. There was a lot of traffic disruption around the Potteries.

LizG Thu 13-Feb-14 08:11:44

Very pleased to read your good news Humbertbear and well done thatbags it is amazing what can be done when you have to.

Good morning everyone sunshine

whenim64 Thu 13-Feb-14 08:01:03

Phew! That was a rough one. I've seen one fallen tree in the park so far, and I heard the motorway was closed for a few hours last night so no-one could drive over the bridge bear the Trafford Centre, as part of the roof of the Chill Factor e had been damaged. The trains stopped running in Stockport and my DIL was sent home from work in a taxi.

A quiet day today - bit of sewing, make bread and listen to the radio. It's sunny and quite still outside. Let's hope it stays that way.

Bez Thu 13-Feb-14 07:56:18

Good morning everyone. Grey here in Dordogne so far today and the wind is very cold - had to venture out to leave the bins for collection.
Glad your part of SW gmissed the worst of it Lefthanded - we have family not far from you. We are so far OK here but our French teacher had her house flooded last week by the groundwater rising - when we came home DH measured the level of our well and it is several feet higher than normal so we need to keep an eye on it.

lefthanded Thu 13-Feb-14 07:37:35

Good morning. My little bit of South Wales seems to have avoided the worst of yesterday's storms. Not raining at the moment, although there is still a dampness in the air.

We have to go to a funeral lunchtime (distant relative) so I am hoping it stays fine for that.
