Do we think this was blatant pr?

Cameron probably not fit enough. I wouldn't like someone to throw me a sandbag. Lifting it would be a big enough challenge. And I have been doing my arm exercises. Maybe it will cheer people up. Better than older royals trailing round hospital wards comforting casualties - fit young men throwing sandbags and grinning.

shock I am usually very supportive of them! More so than others on here in the past.

Just think this was a bit obvious. grin

Oh - never mind! hmm

They were 2 fit, healthy extra pairs of hands to help the other soldiers. As others have said they are damned if they do etc. Why not leave them alone?

I agree with you rose I would be worried if DC et al did this work when there are others more suited and with the time.

Yes, it's the royal PR machine in action. However, if they didn't at least visit, there would be dark mutterings.Someone says David Cameron should be doing it? Hardly, he is viewing all the flood relief around the country anyway, and he does have a country to run. If he had time to fill sand bags I would be worried, and that certainly would be blatant PR.

If you really do want to get serious about it, I think, unless they were actually able to do some good, this could look ridiculous. The troops seem to be doing an excellent job anyway.

I did n't actually mean it to be taken quite so heavily as you appear to have done dorsetpent. Did n't you notice the emoticons?

Lighten up a bit missis! hmm grin

merlotgran Fri 14-Feb-14 16:14:09

Just being seen to be doing something is good for morale, surely?

dorsetpennt Fri 14-Feb-14 16:11:18

God how cynical to put this thread up. Two young privileged soldiers seeing where they can help and do so. They are damned if they do nothing and damned if they do help. Don't see David Cameron and his group doing this do you?

Nonnie Fri 14-Feb-14 15:40:13

Does it matter if it is?

Sook Fri 14-Feb-14 15:23:52

Despite their privileged upbringing, they both appear to be decent human beings. Lets face it, they are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Not a film crew - the video was recorded on a mobile phone. smile

Lona Fri 14-Feb-14 14:52:30

It said on the news that they hadn't informed the press although they must have known wherever they went, film crews would be around.
Good on them I say smile

FlicketyB Fri 14-Feb-14 14:51:54

but funny!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Feb-14 14:42:46

Actually, that's quite scary. shock

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Feb-14 14:41:37

OMG!!! So funny!

grin

glassortwo Fri 14-Feb-14 14:28:03

royal escape

Have you seen this grin

FlicketyB Fri 14-Feb-14 14:25:02

Yes, it is, but in the best sense. This is what royalty are for, representing how many people feel and would like to act.

Soutra Fri 14-Feb-14 14:00:08

Oh heck - smile and "more than can be said..." etc.

Soutra Fri 14-Feb-14 13:58:31

Of course! [smile| but at least they were doing something which is more tha van be said for all the political great and good posturing in their wellies!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Feb-14 13:53:04

Perhaps I'm being unfair. They do seem very nice boys. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 14-Feb-14 13:51:48

they don't seem to be doing a lot grin
