However they are advertised as "LODGES", and there is a world of difference between them and "HUTS", which by their very nature are pretty basic.

In fact I do believe that some authorities do not allow to people sleep in said "HUTS".

If I had a beach hut it would have to be a proper chalet with mains and mod cons, overlooking the sea; in fact more of a chalet like this one (Spa Lodge) at Bantham:

I thought the beach hut at Wells next to sea was quite reasonably priced.

Don't laugh but i'v always said if I won the lottery I'd buy a house in Lymm just off junction 19 on the M6. It's lovely and bang slap in the middle of my own and in-laws family. I'd like to do up this house and if I had loads a modernised old stone house in Greece would be the icing on the cake. We can all dream

I hope it is good news about Bantham - gosh they must have had loads of money as it was about 11 million wasn't it? I do so hope that they haven't got future profit from commercialization in mind it would be a tragedy.

I was hoping to buy Bantham as we used to visit there when we lived in S Devon. However, that cost more than £70 as well!

As we found the vest place to live five years ago, we would stay right here. I do love house hunting so might buy a different house and pay someone to furnish and decorate it as we just don't seem to have the talent fir such things.

Apparently Bantham has now been sold, whitewave, but sadly the NT could not raise enough money, so a family have bought it and have promised to leave it as it is. I also DO SO HOPE it remains unspoilt. The family's name has not been announced yet.
I know the South Brent area well, it is beautiful around there, isn't it.
I'm further east these days, around the Bovey Tracey area, not far from the moors.

Nfk I had almost got my £70 out of my savings account, lucky you told me quickly about the increase.

A super yacht but with more wood than plastic. It would have a roof garden, and the crew would all be good looking young men all picked by me.lol

You can do the next best thing Whitewave & stay in the NT cottages in the grounds of Coleton Fishacre. We once stayed in the Chauffeur's flat furnished in period (apart form mod cons). It was lovely as we had the grounds to ourselves, though being Nov the House wasn't open. While the rest of the country froze, the sun shone & we had access to the coast path & some lovely sunny walks by the sea.

When I eventually went to the House, discovered that a famous cousin of Mr Gad's (who had cut himself off from his 'inferior' family) was a regular visitor to CF. Dread to think what they got up to in the 30s though.

We used to live in South Devon for about 7 years - South Brent - lovely area - Bantham was our beach - I see it is for sale and the NT is trying to raise the money to buy it I SO HOPE that they are successful as it would be an absolute outrage if it was bought by a firm who commercialized this glorious place

Aren't I lucky to live here in south Devon, within easy reach of places like the beautiful Colyton Fishacre. I don't think I could live anywhere better.
But if I had plenty of money I would sure like a holiday home somewhere in France. Provence maybe.

NanKate you can pick up a nice beach hut in Wells, Norfolk for £70! Backing pinewoods and with a beautiful beach, samphire for the picking - and sea twice a day!

Scotney Castle, Kent. But only if I could move it, lock, stock and 700 acres to North Norfolk. I know just the spot - overlooking Morston.

And then I'd look out for a nice place in Melbourne to spend the winter. Somewhere with a watery view and a yacht (large with crew).
