Baptism

Depends on the efficiency of the parish administration harrigran. Our parish was going through turbulent times and the certificate never materialised. Eventually it was forgotten and the lack of it only remembered when needed for DD's confirmation.

A certificate is presented at baptism and this names the church, I kept mine with my birth certificate.

Needed record of my daughter's baptism in 1984. I emailed the church and they told me the records had been transferred to local authority archive. Sent them the required fee and they mailed me a photocopy of the entry. This was in Essex, other areas may be different.

Churches keep registers of baptisms and the vicar or minister would probably give you the information or if you live near enough to visit, will let you look in the register.

I think the Vicars of both churches are your best bet as I am pretty sure that they will each have the Church Baptismal Register for the year in question.
