Replacement car key

glammanana - hmm, now you've made me wonder if I could order it online. I don't want to claim on my insurance in case they bump the premium up!

The first place I tried wanted £160 , so I shopped around various locksmiths etc. and managed to get one cut eventually for £60, which I still think is ludicrous for my ancient Suzuki Swift.
(my keys were neither lost nor stolen, I just neded a spare key)

hollydaze snap (not literally) I have an Audi TT and when I lost my spare key I went to Audi direct and it was cheaper than the Main dealer I use,I never even thought of my insurance ?

I only have one key for my car (lost the other one) and was quoted a similar price to the OP - and my car is an Audi A4 Cabriolet not a flipping Merc

On principle, I won't pay it so I guard the only key like it is a gold nugget - just hope it doesn't break or I'm in trouble but I hate being ripped off.

Makes the £92 I paid for a spare Toyota Yaris key look cheap!

Mine's not lost - it's broken. The shaft has separated from the remote control which is still working.

It's amazing sometimes what we are covered for by our insurance. I must make a point of actually reading mine sometimes ...

Good point - my M&S insurance covers lost keys - or is it just stolen ones?

You're sometimes covered by your insurance; might be worth checking it out.

My dwughter's Hyundai was over £100 - hardly luxury end of market. Key that is not car
