bags I asked MacS to teach me to play a card game. He tells me that he can only manage Snap! We ordered a lamb joint from our local shop. MacS said "round about £20" would be ideal. When he collected, it was £29. A bit of a shock, but extremely tasty with it. The marrow chutney sounds delicious.

Gaga how could anyone refuse to allow you to adopt a cat. You are exactly the right type of person to give a safe and loving home to an animal that needs one. PLEASE keep us updated. I'm longing to know the outcome. We would be lost without our Rory. He is the top cat in our estimation.

Agus I shall try the Crema Intenso this afternoon. Yes, we're told that buying the pods online is less expensive. The grandchildren treated us to a marvellous hamper of delicious goodies. Our 24 year-old granddaughter is to be married in the spring. My outfit is just a tad too snug at the moment. I shall return to the exercise bike once all the festivities are over and done with.

Agus I found it this morning, thank goodness. How it arrived from the 3rd bedroom to the dining room area I will never know. Naturally it was buried at the bottom of a large pile of junk and rubbish, some of which I will have to keep.

The person who is interested in buying my car for her daughter is back from holiday tomorrow soI will give her a couple of hours to find her way around her work and then visit her. I pick up my "new" car on Wednesday at 1pm but I will not be mentioning that until I need to do so.

In the ideal world I will drive my old car to the Nissan service centre and leave it with the manager on Wednesday, all of the paperwork and money sorted and walk 100 yards to pick up my "new" car afterwards.

This exercise has taught me a valuable lesson to not get in this scrape ever again. Who else spent Christmas and Boxing Days + more shredding paper?!!!

Gaga we always had various pets but when our dog died last year, we made the sad decision not to have anymore pets. However, by chance, we acquired Poppy cat a few months ago and it is lovely having a pet in the house again. Let us know all about your cat whom I am sure will be with you soon.

Big smiles from me to you lot. I'm in the middle of drawer-sorting. The bedroom looks like a tip. However, by G&T time I shall feel rather smug. Don't ask why! I haven't a clue...except that I shall have achieved doing a useful job...even though I would have preferred to be passing the time of day in our kitchen.

I'm about to upload a rather nice photo that MacS took at breakfast-time. The night had been very chilly. No snow...yet! The mountain peaks looked lovely. Darkness is beginning to close in.

I`ve been turning the house upside down for 2 days now, looking for 2 dozen light bulbs that I bought a few months ago from Amazon, seeing as "normal" light bulbs are practically impossible to buy in the shops. Can I find them? Can I HECK!! How can 2 dozen light bulbs, in boxes of 6, just disappear? And we desperately need a new bulb at the top of the stairs.

Have you looked under the bed? Inside a travel bag at the back of the wardrobe? Tucked at the very back corner of a kitchen unit or the airing cupboard? Yes! The mystery of the missing light bulbs continues number dear. Do keep searching. I'm all agog. I so want to know where they be. x

The drive is a sheet of ice. MacSporran is doing his best to clear it with something resembling a pick axe. We've been invited to visit pals who live at the top of a very steep, unmade drive. Their house is perched on the side of a hill, looking out to sea. We're wondering whether or not our car is man enough to cope with the slope. I shall know in a couple of hours time.

Oh soop I don't like the idea of MacS wielding a pick axe. We have metal boxes of salt around our area for residents to help themselves. When I can't get that I buy large bags of salt to de-ice. I also keep a couple of bags in the car just in case I may need it at this time of year.

We managed to get our boiler problem sorted out today. Thank goodness as the novelty of using heaters and boiling water in pans was wearing thin. A Christmas to remember!

I do the same (with salt) I don't think McSporron should be using a pick axe either!

Yes, we made it up the steep drive. The self-built house is stunning and the views panoramic. It was a very pleasant afternoon and now, here I am about ready to strip out of my finery and slip into something far more comfortable - jimjams and cuddly dressing gown and fluffy slippers. Bliss!

Agus We shall acquire some sort of suitable grit when we next venture out and about. I'm also pleased to hear that you have a fully functioning boiler. It is bitterly cold, but thankfully, there is no snow and it is windless.

Lona the dust will keep for as long as you decide not to shift it. As MacS says...it's doing no harm...leave it be.

My ds has been this afternoon for his monthly eye injections, and he's been told that one eye is normal now, and the other eye is much improved although still needed the jab!
Such wonderful news, the new treatment eye mask is really making a huge difference to his sight.
After my lovely Christmas day, now this! I am beaming again

I've come to recover from the visit of my very selfish brother in law. He and his wife (my lovely SiL) recently lost their son and SiL was very upset that timings didn't fit for her to see all our DGC. So, we shoved things around, invited DN and new partner, made alcoholic and non- alcoholic shepherds pies, a chocolate log, mince pies etc to give them a nice day. When they arrived they had brought their spoilt baby dog. They were put out when we said that 6 under 7s and a growly dog were incompatible but eventually put it the hall. Then, halfway through lunch, BiL decided that it would be nice for the pesky thing to sit under the table while we were eating. It growled, chased our cats, made the littlest DGD cry and made me so
