0845 tel numbers

Phoned the bank the other night to get a balance and the voice on the other end said to redial using an 03 number as the 0845 one would cost me a lot of money. Have just dialled the Post Office about another account and, again have been told to dial 0345. Has this happened recently?? Said that 0845 numbers now cost 5 pence per minute.

Not sure about the change, other than I've noticed that more companies seem to be switching.

I usually look numbers up on Saynoto0870 to get alternative 'normal landline' numbers.

Tegan I read somewhere recently that the large companies have been told not to use the premium numbers so that might explain the change.

We always used the saynoto0870 as minimouse suggested above when we are given an 0845 number.
