Memory foam

I have a memory foam mattress plus a 3" memory foam topper, and a 13.5 tog duvet - Just right for us.
Only thing, the depth of the two together means the ordinary fitted sheet doesn't have deep enough sides and works its way off the corner during the night.
A trip to TK Maxx today was successful and I got a deep sided fitted sheet that goes well underneath the whole way round. It was 400 thread for £10... well pleased, and looking forward to a comfy night with sheet still in place in the morning.

Still using my 4.5 tog duvet and for the last few nights a certain young lady who goes by the name of Purdy Puss has curled up beside me. Anything more and I would br far too hot.

I, too, would be far too overheated with a 15 tog duvet! I feel hot just thinking about it - it has to be very, very cold before I drag out the 10.5 tog one...

You must be incredibly cold, Charley, if you have a memory foam mattress and a 15 tog duvet. Sandwiched between the two I would be sweating all night.
I used to have a guest house, and I did not like changing the bedding in the winter because of the weight of the kingsize duvets. Used to make my arms ache all the time.

durhamjen my duvet is 15 tog! I would freeze with a 7.5 tog one.

I have a mattress with a 5cm top of memory foam, built in. It's very comfortable, and they are not as expensive as complete memory foam.
I have just changed my duvet to a 7.5 tog from a 4.5 tog until last week. It means I do not need a heavy duvet.

And you can claim to be 'hot stuff'!

I lent a friend my single topper but she hated it, saying that she spent half the night fanning herself because she was so hot, much to her OH's ittitation.

Yes, I do get hot during the night with my double memory foam mattress and the single topper but I do not mind. At least when I go to the loo during the night my bed is still warm whe I return- a big bonus.

I have a fabulous neck shaped pillow made out of bamboo fibres- it is fantastic and got rid of my neck problems.

My sil got a memory foam mattress as he has fibromylgia (sp?) but he hates with a vengeance- much too hot he says. I have a very good quality Dunlop foam mattress with a soft microfibre topper- which I love (and take on holiday if I can- will buy a second one which I will cut in half to take on hols and save on space).

A few years ago bought a vastly expensive memory foam mattress. We both hated it. Put it on the double guest bed instead. Guests hated it!Got rid of it, and I bought a memory foam mattress topper just for myself, as this is what friends had and said it was brilliant. I love it, it's amazing. I roll it up and take it everywhere, even abroad on holidays.

My memory foam pillow was very expensive, for a pillow, but worth every penny!

I tried a topper first, loved it and then bought the mattress and pillows.

Thanks for all that. Looks like I need to give it a try. Still think it's a silly name.

I love my memory foam mattress and pillows. I am not sure how I would manage to sleep on an ordinary mattress with pillows now. I bought mine on Bid TV, it was much cheaper and I could not live without it.

hmm. We have just bought a "normal" mattress.
I didnt like the sound of memory foam. hmm.

WE love our mattress and pillows so much that we have them on all the beds now!

I hope you're wrong, mzee, as I am planning to get one. My son who lives in a camper van five days a week recently bought one as he was very uncomfortable. He now sleeps much better and says memory foam mattresses are the best thing since the proverbial sliced bread.

I had a mattress topper made for my small double bed eight years ago, before a big op on my shoulder. It made and continues to make my sleep much more comfortable. It doesn't hold your shape for ever. That's something of a misleading claim. I suggest that you try it rather than dismissing it out of hand. I wouldn't be without my mattress topper.

It doesn't stay in the same position mzee. As soon as any pressure on the mattress is released it goes back to normal. Like Ariadne I love mine.

It is amazingly comfortable, especially for arthritic joints. I have a full mattress ND pillows and wouldn't exchange them for anything,
