Why did you choose your username?

I can play the old joanna, (badly). I grew up with tunes like Knees up Mother Brown sung by my loud Cockney family, and Dad on the piano.

Ariadne was the daughter of King Minos of Crete in Greek mythology, and associated with mazes and, of course, the labyrinth, from which she rescued Theseus. (I studied Classics as well as English.)

So, in essence, a woman who helped a man get out of a mess.....

I started out as absentgrana because I lived on the opposite side of the world from my grandchildren. This became shortened to absent and, although I have now emigrated to New Zealand, I have stayed with absent in spite of being present, as it were.

Because my dear old Mum used to say "I'm going gaga" when she forgot something so it's in memory of her really. And I am a Gran!

I grew up with hens in the garden always, and have long been called chick or hen... cluck!
