Good Morning New Years Day

It was so overcast at 7.30 this morning that I thought it was much earlier. Still very dull but mild and moderate breeze.

Morning all! I heard fireworks in my sleep. We have a deluge of rain this morning. I shall work on a temari.

Happy New Year all - thankfully the thaw yesterday cleared away all the snow and ice and although its dull and overcast so much better than all that greying mucky snow and treacherous ice. I have started 2015 with a cold and cleared away all the Christmas decorations and general paraphernalia. House all tidy, washing done , duck (from M & S ready prepared) for dinner.

It is very dark here in NW London but it appears to be dry. Keep your fingers crossed that I can sell my old car today- my "new" car looks beautiful sitting outside. It was owned by somebody more elderly and decrepit than myself and she had managed to run up 1643 miles on the clock in 2 years!!!! It is a new car nicely run in for me.

I couldn't believe my eyes reading on Twitter this morning that some parts of the UK may reach 15° today (e.g. Bude). A "balmy" start to the year (if like my husband you consider it warm once double figures are reached!)

Good morning all and Happy New Tear to all. I am still lazily abed so can't give a weather report,just know it is dark. Dinner with ex DiL and her family today. So nice to keep the relationship alive and well.

I'm cooking a late lunch for DD and family today so was in the kitchen making a lemon merinue at 7am (DsiL's favourite) and have just set DH to peeling potatoes. I made Antony Worrall Thompson's Christmas Casserole last night (and set the table) so it is just to heat up. For my darling vegetarian GD I've done roasted spiced butternut squash, with goats cheese to scatter on top when it's heated through. Hope it all goes down well!

The frost has gone thankfully but it's a bit gloomy and dank here on SE Hampshire coast. I hope all your days are peaceful, healthy and happy.
