I don't like fluffy kittens!

There are those that spout the adage "You're either a cat lover or a dog lover". Well, I am neither - and I believe Mishap joins me in that.

We have a cat. It is very definitely my husband's cat. I try to ignore her but I buy it's food and accommodate her. One son loves cats (as soop will know), and one son loves dogs, which leaves me out in the cold. A perfectly nice place to be where dogs and cats are concerned.

Many friends have cats and dogs. I just don't get it. Am I missing some vital gene??

I love both and I would have a dog as well as Tara but I could not look after a dog properly.

Have you tried drawing a circle on the ground? Apparently a cat will almost certainly go and sit within it. I just tried it with a piece of rope on the carpet, and Saffron took the runner bean she was playing with (I am slicing some for dinner) and sat in it for a while. Bugsie, my lazy lump, couldn't be ar*ed.

I'm a cat and a dog person, well actually I think I'm just an animal person in general.

I have friends who don't really like animals and although I love those friends dearly I have to say (without wishing to cause anyone any offence) that I really don't understand that aspect of them at all. I just don't get it I'm afraid. I suppose they don't get me either.

Shysal, saucy, I don't understand. Adult pussies have character that kittens don't We have had several pussies, but should we get another it will be an adult rescue one.

I like cats and really miss having one. DH is adamant that we will not have another
DGS2 innocently said the other day 'Get another cat' when I told him that our cat died (before he was born!) As DGS2 is the apple of his grandfather's eye I might be in luck! Though if I get to the point of having DH agreement I may go for a re-homing rather than a kitten!

Fluffy kittens are OK but the trouble is they will grow into cats.

Rory is fine, though, I hasten to add - his claws are virtual!

ATM, we travel at the drop of a hat, so having a pussy is out of the question, We have had them for many years until recently. When (as we surely will ) move nearer our daughter we will probably have another, but it will be an adult rescue one. I often miss ours curled up on my lap.

Shysal, I was not easily shocked, if you remember I objected to the F and C word, and still do.

I've lost a dog and a cat, both young, in the past 6 months and got a rescue dog 4 months ago so now have two Cavaliers and one young cat. I will never live without animals until I'm too old to look after them properly.
If you don't like cats you obviously don't want to share your life with one but what a lot you're missing.

if I do get a new cat and if it is a fluffy kitten I will probably plant some climbing roses to grow around my door. Do you think it is easy to get a thatched roof put on my house.. would that complete my happiness I wonder!

My mum used to be terrified of cats and could tell if one was in the room. She would freak out if they came near her. My sister was allergic to dogs and horses. Needless to say we didn't have pets! (Well, only a goldfish!)

The only cat I ever had was as a child and i really don't remember much about it. When I was a SAHM with 3 DCs we had a springer spaniel a a black lab.

Dd1 has dogs, dd2 has cats and ds has a very old retired lab. He is seeing her through a contented retirement and has already embarked on the phased adoption of a young springer who has never taken to a serious working life.

Don't mind any of them but the thought of having to be out first thing in the morning and last thing at night means no dog. Cat litter trays and scratching put me right off having a cat.

Not that I can think of.
I do like to see birds feeding in the garden without fear of being caught just for fun!

DH loves cats and I know he would like one but I'm not keen on finding half chewed wildlife all over the house when I get up. We happily feed cats for our neighbours when they go away and there are all kinds of creatures (dead and alive) brought in as 'gifts'.
