Reasons to be cheerful - not the big stuff

Having running water and our toilets. I hate the hole in the floors, poo in a bag and worse. We are so lucky!

Spring and summer, watching the world burst into life and colour.

Our wild life , having so few nasty critters like poisonous snakes, spiders , corocodiles. I know we have an odd one or two but you know. what I mean.

Being anywhere by the sea .

When my dd or dgd facetime me for an unexpected chat

My youngest grandson Louis Mummy sent me a short video on FB yesterday of him paddling in the sea, their first beach visit this year and to hear him shrieking with delight as he dashed in and out of the waves holding his other granny's hand and saying a big CHEESE everytime he spotted Mummy filming him certainly cheered us up.

I shared it with the rest of the family on FB it keeps us up with his 'doings' even though he lives far away..

We went to our local pub last night. There was an 'act' on which we usually avoid like the plague but he was really good, singing lots of stuff from the '60s and Motown etc. DH and I danced. I can't remember the last time we danced.

I held a baby barn owl yesterday. It was a gorgeous bundle of white fluff.

Catching a fish on a fly I've tied myself which looked like the Frankenstein's monster of fishing flies and thinking, as it swam away, "bet you won't fall for that one again!" Seeing a barn owl flying down the field at the side of the reservoir. Chatting to my step-grandson about his uni course while he scoffed my home made quiche. The thought of seeing my DGS this afternoon.

Strangely, I'm quite pleased with the drop of rain, today. The garden needed it to perk up the plants. Also to wash the dust off, after our recent building work. x

Looking out of the bathroom window, I thought there was something funny about the birdseed feeder. With the binoculars, I saw, one on each perch, a lovely goldfinch. What spectacular little birds they are! This weekend I've been speaking to my sister in NZ who is coming over this summer and we always go away for a week together. This time we have arranged to go to Majorca in June, staying in Palma. So plenty to look forward to this summer.

And they may pass you over bags of home-grown tomatoes, cucumbers etc from their huge greenhouse vegasmags!

The smell of welly boots, wet dogs and DH cooking bacon as I come back in from walking the dogs.
