Children's misheard words or song lyrics

Listening to Radio 2 in the car this morning, I was reminded of when DS thought the chorus to Kid Creole and the Coconut's 'Annie, I'm not your Daddy' was,
'Ono, ono, onomatopoeia'

Zoe Ball apparently thought the same.

My DD aged 5 came home singing " cook my arm" took me ages to find out it was cum bye are ( not sure about spelling even now 37 years later!)

DS2 (now aged 30!) asked to watch his video of his favourite film A Fight with an Alligator. It took us a while to realise he wanted to watch The Flight of the Navigator...and 25 years on, guess what we call that film!

As a child I thought a line of the Easter hymn was 'Our salvation Aspro cured' -later learnt it was 'Our salvation hath procured'

Phoenix - that is so funny! Like the child's painting of a woman kneeling by what looks like a large puddle, who is "praying for the sick."

There was also the little boy who appeared at Sunday school with a cucumber. Apparently he had misheard when the teacher said it would be nice if they could all bring a newcomer with them next week.

Sorry – I know the Creed is mumbled through at every Catholic Mass but I don't know if it is said at all other Christian services. I was trying to be helpful.

Hey, I'm not RC and I got it!

Church ritual offers quite a lot of scope for mishearing and misunderstanding. I rather like this variation of the Creed: "…suffered under a bunch of spiders…" (For the non RC, it should be suffered under Pontius Pilate.)

As a C of E at a convent school it took me five years to find out that the last line of Hail Mary wasn't 'now and at the howl of the deaf'

We still sing go and get stuffed to that one sal!

From she first learned to talk my GD put her dirty clothes in the washing it clean. She doesn't now as she is 8, and like to put everyone right.

My late aunt went to Church, and every week would say " Forgive us our trespasses, and the liver is evil".
She never liked liver!
