Children's misheard words or song lyrics

We're watching Pointless and DH has just commented on one of the answers to identifying chefs' names.

Despite years of watching Masterchef, he thought John Torode was Jonty Rhodes!

My response was 'Gordon Bennett!!!'

To which he replied, 'No....The other one's Greg Wallace!'

Phoenix - weren't they fleeing into Egypt? I am sure one of our experts will tell us!

DS2 (now aged 30!) asked to watch his video of his favourite film A Fight with an Alligator. It took us a while to realise he wanted to watch The Flight of the Navigator...and 25 years on, guess what we call that film!

My DD aged 5 came home singing " cook my arm" took me ages to find out it was cum bye are ( not sure about spelling even now 37 years later!)

Listening to Radio 2 in the car this morning, I was reminded of when DS thought the chorus to Kid Creole and the Coconut's 'Annie, I'm not your Daddy' was,
'Ono, ono, onomatopoeia'

Zoe Ball apparently thought the same.

And I remember my Dad thinking Paul and Barry Ryan's song was,

'Don't bring me your hard eggs,
I can't help you, nun'

"He will wash away my sins". I didn't know what a sin was, so I assumed it was short for cinders. I made sure I didn't touch the cold cinders when mum cleared out the hearth in the morning. I didn't want to risk a man coming to the house to wash me!

My daughter reminded me that when she was a little girl she thought Noel Edmunds was called No Ledmunds!

It wasn't until DD1 was much older that she asked me what 'butter dream' was!

There is a song (a round) sung to Frere Jacques which genuinely goes -

rosequartz when my children were young I used to sing 'life is butter cream' to make them laugh.

We used to sing that as a round at Guide campfires, Elegran.

I am, as they say, laughing out loud!! Thank you, I needed to!

A good laugh is a tonic, and very necessary on here some days.

My DD thought that Jimmy Saville was called Jim'll Fixit, and wrote her letter Dear Jimmll.

How glad I am that her letter to him was not chosen!

My DS thought he was called that too, Mishap! I used to try to persuade my DC to write in to the programme - fortunately they all showed very good sense and refused to.

I recall Michael Aspell saying that he used to receive letters addressed to "Dear Ask"

(Just in case, and to ensure that there is no misunderstanding, he used to host a children's programme called "Ask Aspel" )

Back to the 'pizza pie' (sorry). I only found out that that was how the song went at my Italian class two weeks ago, and I am in my 70s! I liked Dean Martin Frank Sinatra very much. They don't have singers like that now days.
