soop, had I just done a 3 hr 10min. stint of ironing, I would need resuscitated! You have put me to shame . I too dither about outfits for an event but the winner is always something I am most comfy in.

Our local B & Q stopped stocking dulux and changed to valspar around a couple of years ago but still do dulux mix of any colour service janer, although I do agree, their mixes are not true to samples, as I learned to my expense!

Thanks for the Protek link. What a fabulous range of colours. I thought Cuprinal Garden Shades had a good range but the Protek is much better. I have, on ocassion, used any spare emulsion on old pots. Does eventually become worn and a bit of a shabby chic look.

They have pinks and yellows and all sorts, so my chicken sheds were a sight to behold.

B&Q, I discovered today, have stopped using Dulux. I went in to get a colour mixed up, called 'Fauna'. They now do an American range, name of Valspar, which means that you can take in any colour you like from cloth or something, and they will match it up for you - although they do their own range of basic colours, just as Dulux did. I couldn't help but feel sorry for poor Dulux, but have to say that their colours were NOT true to the samples.

Anyway, where was I - oh yes. Garden colours. Valspar will also be putting Protek's noses out of joint, as they also do a huge range of garden colours - and guess what, it's virtually identical to poor old British company's Protek range... It's much more expensive, but you don't have to order it online and wait for it to be delivered. Protek is mostly used by garden designers.

You can all wake up now.

Morning all. soop you sound as though wedding excitement is creeping up on you, how lovely. I do love a good wedding.

Well I survived my mother's visit without resorting to alcohol or drugs which is nothing short of a miracle.

I was at the airport getting her checked in mentally counting down the minutes until I could get my headspace back when DH received a call to say that his mother had collapsed at home and was being whisked to hospital.

We were there till late last night waiting for her to be admitted, doctor thinks a urine infection is the cause of her collapse. Fortunately nothing was damaged when she fell.

I'm off to my drawing class today, bliss.

A woman was on the news a year or so ago, the silly so and so had flushed her old bra down the loo. It ballooned up and very efficiently plugged up the whole village's sewage system. It was so big that they tracked her down with very little trouble. The offending (cleaned) item was displayed on tv. Not many women are snitched on by their bra.

That would put them off women for life!

Am trying to imagine a grapefruit tree smothered in elderly bras. I did see a photo once of a washing line, with all the bra cups containing plants, like hanging baskets. I wonder if I can find it.

Oh dear pompa, that's miserable. Would it be worth giving the dentist a call? You may have 'dry socket' which will need looking at - I've had it twice and it's very painful. The dentist dressed mine with instant relief. Good luck!

Woke very early, tooth is hurting again, I hope the AB's clear it up, otherwise I'm not sure what the problem is.

According to the legend as told by Sir Walter Scott, her (Muckle Mou'd Meg's) home was Ellibank where her father as Laird of Ellibank gave the notorious Border reiver Walter Scott of Harden the choice of being hanged or marrying his ugly (!) daughter. Scott of Harden wasn't stupid which was how she came to Oakwood Tower ( which was what we knew it as before David and Judy Steel bought and renovated it). I remember it as little more than a grain/hay/straw store in my childhood just a mile or so outside Selkirk. Apparently my mother used to walk me up the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys to Bowhill House and Oakwood in my pram.

However, despite cutting my teeth, as it were on the Border ballads, Wikipedia says this story is no more than fiction, presumably invented by Sir Walter Scott. My illusions are shattered
