I haven't started the cardigans after all because my phone beeped and reminded me I have a Dr appointment, so went up to shower and change. Now I have about half an hour before I leave and CBA to get started on something new. It can wait till later.
Roseq that is my least favourite part of knitting cardigans - picking up and knitting button bands [irritated emoticon]. I take it your doing the 'horizontal' bands, so picking up stitches all the way up each front edge? Ugh, hate doing that. But it looks so nice!

Count yourself lucky - one of my friends has just discovered that her DD's unborn baby is a 'they' and likely to arrive six weeks earlier than expected. When I left her she was checking her phone every few seconds because some weird kind of amniotic fluid test was being done today along with various other things. It all sounded very complicated. They want to know if they are sharing the sac or have one each. She was babbling so much I could barely make it out, and I thought of you.

Don't mention picking up stitches to knit button bands its worse than sewing up. A few more rows of collar and then that's my next task.

AshTree there are a lot of us new grans at present. We could all be really grannyish and post fond pictures of a new little ones on one of the picture threads. Have a bonny baby competition with GNHQ judging.

Goodness janer, I can't begin to imagine your friend's state of panic, never mind her DD's and SiL's !!! A twin pregnancy was one of my DD's greatest fears, being a single mum. Her relief at her first scan was palpable when the sonographer said it was a single embryo. She kept saying, "are you sure? Really sure? Oh thank God". And then burst into tears.

Re button bands and sewing up, I just found this pattern on Ravelry for a little crossover cardigan which is knitted sideways - all the bands are knitted with the main body, so NO picking up stitches anywhere. And the only sewing up is the side and sleeve seams!

I have a cardigan (for myself) started aeons ago, that's stuck waiting for its button bands.

anno, just sew it up and crochet up and down the front edges - at least you'll be able to wear it

Take a deep breath, have a go, and just remember that you can always unpick it.

Friend now in a panic because she already has 2 GCs to look after on a fairly regular basis, to have two babies added to the mix is making her feel exhausted before they have even arrived. I think she's delighted really, though. She seems to have acquired baby brain, I can't get any sense out of her!

My MIL was really looking forward to having grandchildren so when her other DIL and I both announced we were having babies within 2 months of each other, she began the little jackets, one for each. When she was half way through the first, I discovered I was having twins in a few months time. 3 days later other DIL announced she was having twins in 3 weeks time. Poor MIL! All she could think of was how she was going to complete 4 jackets in so short a time! My FIL had to give her 2 sherries for the shock. And she wasn't a drinking woman.

2 months later she was the proud grandmother of 4 little girls ...... and she finished the 4 jackets with matching hats in time. So don't worry Ash, it will all get done in time ....... If you come off GN

Yes Ashtree, I am supposed to be picking up all up (down) both fronts - still not done. Age 7-8 (she may be 9 or 10 before I finish it )

Finished! I did both the little cardigans (and made another white one too!), finished the little beanie hat, completed the mini album with all the 'fairy godmother wishes' pasted inside. And today I've finally got round to finishing the quilt. Here it is

Oh, and all the bedding is washed, including her jimjams and dressing gown. Just got the house to clean
