Galen I went on a 14 day cruise in 1969. I was sick I think for 13 of them and each time we went ashore, I acted as though I was drunk. Never again, it was an awful waste of my hard earned cash. Terra firma for me.

I am not sure why I was in that state because annually as a child and teenager I had travelled with my parents on the ferry from Stranraer to Larne and was only sick about once.

Didn't someone once say regarding seasickness that first you think you're going to die then you fear you're not?!

I envy those who sail in any boat!

On a more suitable subject I've left a newly baked coffee and walnut cake on the table, one of three I've made tonight, enjoy!

Of my two children, ones seasick, the other the rougher the better!

Fingers crossed the road ahead is less bumpy for you both. Tai Chi (don't know how to spell it either!) is almost mesmerising, I've done several sessions informally so I hope it helps her x

Don't you drink your Chai tea AFTER you have done your * Tai Chi*?

I would like to propose a new philosophy regarding stains or damage which may help Soop -if they occurred at a pleasurable time, a visiting grandchild and the Ribena, or a red wine incident on a companionable evening with family or friends, by all means do what you can to remove the stain, and you may need a considerably bigger throw, but each time you see it you will be reminded of the pleasure of the visit.

Our pal was able to remove the chocolate stain that occurred when MacSporran sat on a piece that had escaped from the packet. The wine stain remains. I have therefore ordered a decent throw. When it arrives I shall take a pic for you to ooh and ahh over.

Galen Tai Chi is a marvellous way to calm the mind and gently exercise the body. When I lived in Dartmouth in Devon in the 1980s I attended the classes taken by a man that had learned the art from a master in Tibet.

When I was about seven or eight, we went to Jersey on the S.S. Falais. On the voyage home we were caught in a bad storm. I fell out of the top bunk and my parents and younger sister were horribly seasick. I cannot recall whether or not I suffered. Perhaps I was that ill I have blanked the episode from my memory bank.

I wanted to start Tai Chi but they moved the classes further away. I'm still really annoyed about that, they are now held on a very dodgy estate and I fear for my car tyres and wing mirrors.

That's really annoying isn't it janer? We had Tai Chi sessions in the village hall but the rent went up so they stopped.

I've never been seasick! (Smug smile). I was once crossing the channel by hovercraft with a party of friends. My sister and I decided to eat before we departed. The others didn't! The crossing was rough, a twelve foot swell! Hovercrafts are very bouncy, and we bounced from wave to wave. My sister and I happily stood at the window while everyone else was sick around us. It was marvellous. I love sea travel.

I only ever got seasick once, crossing the Bay of Biscay. Even so, I wasn't too bad, just felt queasy - but it was after dinner that it got rough and the place just emptied. There was no-one left in the bar to talk to, so I had to have an early night. I remember feeling quite miffed.

No GRR needed re Cunard. Carnival took over Cunard in 1998, so if you bought Cunard shares in 2011 they would have been Carnival.

Galen Well I'll be jiggered. The Falaise is the only vessel in which I've sailed the "high seas"...at the time, it was such a great adventure. We were on the island of Jersey during the flower festival. The chef at the hotel in which we stayed, baked me a birthday cake. I remember feeling oh so grand.

I wore an organdie dress embroidered with rose buds. My bar-over shoes were blue.

My mother had tied a blue ribbon in my hair. Aww!

New kitchen floor being laid at this moment. First thing to go back will be the dishwasher, can cope without a cooker, but washing up by hand

pompa I am interested to know what type of flooring you are having laid as I may be going down that route soon.

I can survive without a cooker or my dishwasher but not my washing machine.

Vinyl, we had ceramic tiles, but they were looking tatty.
