What's your most treasured possession?

I have a painting of a puffin that DD did when she was 5 and it was in an exhibition and a clay rabbit DS made when he was 7 and he painted it to look like the one we had but had sadly died. I knew who it was supposed to be the minute I saw it on the table in school!
I do have a couple of other things I would be sad about losing but I would get over OK.
My dd had her grandmother's flour men shaker and salt and pepper pots and asked for my button tin!

I wear my granny's engagement ring, dated 1904. I would like to be able to pass it on to one of my GDs - not sure which.

Photographs. That is it really.
I wouldnt like to lose my wedding rings, but it wouldnt be all the world.

It seem to me that, may be because we all on the whole have more things, that things in themselves have less emotional value than they used to?

Even the photographs. If I lost them all, others have photos that could fill most of the gaps.

So many, but I think photographs must be No.1 as they evoke so many happy memories

My collection of note books which I started in my teens, full of favourite bits of poetry, quotations, loved bits of literature, etc. Still being added to.

A small blue and white knitted rabbit - my baby daughter's favourite toy which was in her cot when she died. It sits on my bedside unit with two photos of her and is kissed goodnight.

My photos. Even then it wouldn't worry me desperately. I am not a possessions person, even though I like nice things.

I have quite a few things that have been given to me, and occasionally wish a nice burglar would come and relieve me of them. It took me years to work out that, if MiL treasured them so much, why wasn't she giving them house room?

It used to be a small heart, made out of brass, that hubby made for me when we were "courting", with both our sets of initials on it. Unfortunately it was lost during a house move over 30 years ago, how, I don`t know, because it was always in my purse.

Childrens' little play school pictures, and their baby teeth. Sentimental old fool !

I have nothing but 21 silver threepenny pieces given to me by my in-laws when I 'came of age'.

My passport, so expensive to renew from here I would need some valuable keepsakes to sell to replace it.

We've got/had a couple of gold sovereigns. DH put them in a roof space cupboard. I'm pretty sure they will have fallen down into the wall cavity by now. And we have had cavity wall insulation since then.

A gold sovereign that my Grandma left me. It's not the sovereign itself, but the association with her.

I lost my engagement ring in a burglary too Lilygran. I had taken it off of my fat fingers when I was pregnant. It was replaced through insurance. I don't have any really irreplaceable possessions, just things like Teetime

It's the people in my life that I treasure the most.

Teetime, I am similar to you. The few little bits of jewellery that have been passed to me I have already handed on - with the instructions that they can be kept or sold. Once I have made the decision to pass them on I can easily detach myself emotionally from them.
We recently 'rescued' a keepsake from a family home that had been passed out of the family that is of no great value but was very much valued by its original owner (my Grandma). It was more about knowing she would have been distraught by its loss if she had known about it that provoked us to do an intervention.

Fond memories prompted by photographs and 'living' memories are far more important to us. Passing on the stories of those who loved us in the past is really the only thing worth doing.

My most treasured possessions are not "things"! For that reason I hope I will always have them.

It's a very chipped little bowl that my father used to put his pills in. I put my pills in it now.
